It was mid-afternoon, no one was there, and I wasn’t sure I was in the right place to go into Manhattan. A man approached and we started talking. He was “Solus” a street artist from Dublin Ireland who was in town to work with “The Bushwick Collective” on the murals in Brooklyn. This was a few years ago, before it became super popular. He was telling me about the murals he had planned for some walls in Manhattan and that he was invited to participate in “Art Basel” in Miami. At this point I thought he was telling some tall tales so when I got on the train I googled him. It was all true. I investigated the Bushwick Collective and my love of Street Art was born. Interpreting flowers in spray paint brings a modern edge to a traditional subject. The veils of color create softness and new colors, blending the edges and building a rich hue on the flat surface of the silver steel. In this piece, I experimented with masking, using cut out curves and edges to shield the panel while layering colors on top. “Devil’s Den”, 30″ x 34″, oil on natural linen, $3000 Trent Call’s Coaster Rider “Summer Storm”, 15.5″ x 19.5″, etching ink on paper, $975 Dancing Pine, 10″ x 12″, oil on canvas, $400 Miami Art Show at the Eduardo Lira Art Gallery2075 NW 2nd Ave, Miami, FL 33127 Japanese Maples, oil on linen, 23″ x 23″, $1600 “Electrical Storm”, 19″ x 38″, oil on aluminum, $2200 Sean Kelly Gallery, NYC Gallery wall detail of Celestial Rhapsody and my sunset paintings! “First Snow”, 40″ x 40″, Oil on steel, $5600 “Half Moon Bay”, 24″ x 24″,oil on linen, $1700 Misty Ridgeline, oil on brushed aluminum, 27″ x 27″ $2500 Winter Beach #1, Oil on canvas, 14″ x 18″, $900 Red Truck, (in progress), 27 x 33, oil on brushed aluminum, $3100 Crawling Under, oil on brushed aluminum, 19″ x 15″, $975 Train to Seville, framed, Oil on canvas, 12″ x 14″ $550 Chasing Waterfalls, detail 3, oil on brushed aluminum, 51” x 39” Under Construction.
