It was mid-afternoon, no one was there, and I wasn’t sure I was in the right place to go into Manhattan. A man approached and we started talking. He was “Solus” a street artist from Dublin Ireland who was in town to work with “The Bushwick Collective” on the murals in Brooklyn. This was a few years ago, before it became super popular. He was telling me about the murals he had planned for some walls in Manhattan and that he was invited to participate in “Art Basel” in Miami. At this point I thought he was telling some tall tales so when I got on the train I googled him. It was all true. I investigated the Bushwick Collective and my love of Street Art was born. Interpreting flowers in spray paint brings a modern edge to a traditional subject. The veils of color create softness and new colors, blending the edges and building a rich hue on the flat surface of the silver steel. In this piece, I experimented with masking, using cut out curves and edges to shield the panel while layering colors on top. “Metamorphosis” $7000, in a Park City boudoir. “Silver Ridgelines”, 38’x 39″, oil on aluminum, Sold Violet Iris, acrylic spray paint on steel, 39″ x 51″, Sold Icy View from Saugatuck Bridge Westport, oil on canvas, 12″ x 12″, $400 Temple Lily “Black Ice”, oil on aluminum, 24”x 24”, Sold Salt Lake City, 19″ x 34″, oil on linen $1900 “Pony Marsh”, 12″ x 12″, oil on canvas, Sold “Electrical Storm”, 19″ x 38″, oil on aluminum, $2200 Back Porch View, Tannery Road, oil on canvas, 18″ x 20″, $1100 A Giant’s View, 24″ x 36″ Lauren’s Rose, 38″ x 46″ Summer Storm, 24″ x 36″ unframed, Oil on canvas, Sold Tungubakkar, Reykjavík, Iceland Hotel Elfonso XIII, Seville, 18 x 24″ oil on canvas January Eye Sand Island 18′ x 24″, oil on linen, $1300 Gallery wall detail of Celestial Rhapsody and my sunset paintings! “Whispers”, oil on aluminum, 39″ x 51″, $6900 “View from Partrick Bridge 2″, Oil on steel, 29″ x 42”. $3700 January Eye “Calm Before the Storm”, oil on aluminum, 17″ x 19″, $1000 Contrasts, 12″ x 12″ Sold Mountain Triptych, panel 3 of 3, 24″ x 48″, Oil on aluminum View From Partrick Bridge, 24″ x 36″ Sold Shine On, 19″ x 38″, oil paint on a brushed aluminum panel, $2200 “Full Tilt”, 37″ x 39″, oil on aluminum, $5100 Hope, by Robert Indiana in New York City.
