It was mid-afternoon, no one was there, and I wasn’t sure I was in the right place to go into Manhattan. A man approached and we started talking. He was “Solus” a street artist from Dublin Ireland who was in town to work with “The Bushwick Collective” on the murals in Brooklyn. This was a few years ago, before it became super popular. He was telling me about the murals he had planned for some walls in Manhattan and that he was invited to participate in “Art Basel” in Miami. At this point I thought he was telling some tall tales so when I got on the train I googled him. It was all true. I investigated the Bushwick Collective and my love of Street Art was born. Interpreting flowers in spray paint brings a modern edge to a traditional subject. The veils of color create softness and new colors, blending the edges and building a rich hue on the flat surface of the silver steel. In this piece, I experimented with masking, using cut out curves and edges to shield the panel while layering colors on top. “Silver Meadow”, 24″ x 36″, oil on steel, $2600 “Electrical Storm”, 19″ x 38″, oil on aluminum, $2200 Train to Seville, framed, Oil on canvas, 12″ x 14″ $550 Grundarfjarðarbær, Western Iceland, Iceland Ablaze, oil on brushed aluminum, 27 x 51, $4100 “Aqua Shots”, 21″x 21″, acrylic spray paint on steel, Sold Lava Road, 36″ x 51″ Oil on steel, $5500 Firestorm, oil on brushed aluminum, 27″ x 51″, Sold Hotel Elfonso XIII, Seville, 18 x 24″ oil on canvas “Pony Marsh”, 12″ x 12″, oil on canvas, Sold Contrasts, 12″ x 12″ Sold “First Snow”, 40″ x 40″, Oil on steel, $5600 Utah Skies, 15″ x 30″ oil on canvas, $1400 Summer Storm, 24″ x 36″ unframed, Oil on canvas, Sold “Shady Stars”, 21″ x 21″, acrylic spray paint on steel, Sold Back Porch View, Tannery Road, oil on canvas, 18″ x 20″, $1100 Moon Shadow, oil on a brushed aluminum panel, 51″ x 51″, Sold Tannery Row, 8″ x 8″ unframed, oil on canvas, $225, Utah Transcendental Dreams, oil on aluminum, 39” x 27”, $3600 per panel. “Full Tilt-Vertical”, Oil on brushed aluminum panel, 51″ x 39″, SOLD Japanese Maples, oil on linen, 23″ x 23″, $1600 Image Info Dimensions 1,920 × 1,199 Date December 12, 2022 Name When-the-Snow-Flies-in-a-gallery-oil-on-brushed-aluminum-5122-x-3922..jpg Mime Type image/jpeg Type JPG Size 403.00 KB
