It was mid-afternoon, no one was there, and I wasn’t sure I was in the right place to go into Manhattan. A man approached and we started talking. He was “Solus” a street artist from Dublin Ireland who was in town to work with “The Bushwick Collective” on the murals in Brooklyn. This was a few years ago, before it became super popular. He was telling me about the murals he had planned for some walls in Manhattan and that he was invited to participate in “Art Basel” in Miami. At this point I thought he was telling some tall tales so when I got on the train I googled him. It was all true. I investigated the Bushwick Collective and my love of Street Art was born. Interpreting flowers in spray paint brings a modern edge to a traditional subject. The veils of color create softness and new colors, blending the edges and building a rich hue on the flat surface of the silver steel. In this piece, I experimented with masking, using cut out curves and edges to shield the panel while layering colors on top. Cultures across the span of history have gravitated to the mountains for peace and clarity, as do I. I became obsessed with Street Art on the platform of the LIRR. “Red Sky at Night”, 24″ x 24″, oil on linen, $1700 Underpass, Into the Light, oil on brushed aluminum. 39″ x 39″, $5300 Sundance in Summer, oil on linen, 32″ x 26″, $2900 Moon Shadow, oil on a brushed aluminum panel, 51″ x 51″, Sold September, 39 x 51, oil on brushed aluminum panel, $6900 “Going Home”, 13″ x 15″, oil on canvas, $725 3rd Floor Mural at China Bridge, Park City 2018 “Full Tilt”, 37″ x 39″, oil on aluminum, $5100 “Grounded”, oil on brushed aluminum, 19″ x 15″, SOLD “Sky Scrapers”, oil on brushed aluminum, 19″ x 15″, $975 Murdock Peak – Altitude, 9602’ Painting by Eric Schmidt Trent Call’s Server LA Sky, 27″ x 27″, oil paint on a brushed aluminum panel, $2250 Cone Flower Farm Carmen, acrylic on steel, 39″ x 51″,$7250 Delphinium, vertical, acrylic spray paint, 39″ x 51″, $7250 “Spiraling Flora” in a Deer Valley home. “Silver Snow”, 39″ x 51″, Oil on steel, Sold Through the Glade, oil on brushed aluminum,15″ x 15″, $825 I became obsessed with Street Art on the platform of the LIRR.
