It was mid-afternoon, no one was there, and I wasn’t sure I was in the right place to go into Manhattan. A man approached and we started talking. He was “Solus” a street artist from Dublin Ireland who was in town to work with “The Bushwick Collective” on the murals in Brooklyn. This was a few years ago, before it became super popular. He was telling me about the murals he had planned for some walls in Manhattan and that he was invited to participate in “Art Basel” in Miami. At this point I thought he was telling some tall tales so when I got on the train I googled him. It was all true. I investigated the Bushwick Collective and my love of Street Art was born. Interpreting flowers in spray paint brings a modern edge to a traditional subject. The veils of color create softness and new colors, blending the edges and building a rich hue on the flat surface of the silver steel. In this piece, I experimented with masking, using cut out curves and edges to shield the panel while layering colors on top. “Electrical Storm”, 19″ x 38″, oil on aluminum, $2200 Trent Call’s Road Biker “Plaza Mayor”, 14″ x 14″ oil on canvas, $600 Porthos, oil paint on a brushed aluminum panel, 15″ x 15″, $800 Sherwood Salt Marsh, 23″ x 29″, Oil on canvas, $1900, “Half Moon Bay”, 24″ x 24″,oil on linen, $1700 Lava Road, 36″ x 51″ Oil on steel, $6400 in a Park City home. “Tuileries”, oil on linen, 24″ x 24″ $1700 September, 39 x 51, oil on brushed aluminum panel, $6900 Underpass, Into the Light, oil on brushed aluminum. 39″ x 39″, $5300 Frost, oil on aluminum, 19″ x 15″, $975 “First Snow”, 40″ x 40″, Oil on steel, $5600 Lava Road, 36″ x 51″ Oil on steel, $6400 Misty Ridgeline, oil on brushed aluminum, 27″ x 27″ $2500 “Fairy Flower”, 36″ x 48″, acrylic on canvas, $7300 “Carmen”, 39″ x 51″, acrylic spray paint on steel, $7250 Creeping Arachnids “View from Partrick Bridge 2″, Oil on steel, 29″ x 42”. $3700 Inside SCOPE Miami Beach, 2019 Art Show!
