I became obsessed with Street Art on the platform of the LIRR. It was mid-afternoon, no one was there, and I wasn’t sure I was in the right place to go into Manhattan. A man approached and we started talking. He was “Solus” a street artist from Dublin Ireland who was in town to work with “The Bushwick Collective” on the murals in Brooklyn. This was a few years ago, before it became super popular. He was telling me about the murals he had planned for some walls in Manhattan and that he was invited to participate in “Art Basel” in Miami. At this point I thought he was telling some tall tales so when I got on the train I googled him. It was all true. I investigated the Bushwick Collective and my love of Street Art was born. Interpreting flowers in spray paint brings a modern edge to a traditional subject. The veils of color create softness and new colors, blending the edges and building a rich hue on the flat surface of the silver steel. In this piece, I experimented with masking, using cut out curves and edges to shield the panel while layering colors on top. “Silver Falls”, 40″x 40″, Oil on steel, Sold Seaweed, 16″ x 12″, oil paint on a brushed aluminum panel, $975 Murdock Peak – Altitude, 9602’ 3rd Floor Mural at China Bridge, Park City 2018 “Shady Stars”, 21″ x 21″, acrylic spray paint on steel, Sold “Midnight Ride”, oil on brushed aluminum, 39″ x 51″, $6900 “Calm Before the Storm”, oil on aluminum, 17″ x 19″, $1000 Crawling Under, oil on brushed aluminum, 19″ x 15″, $975 “Midnight Ride”, oil on brushed aluminum, 39″ x 51″, $6900 Safe Passage, oil on brushed aluminum, 27″ x 51″, $4100 Dancing Pine, oil on canvas, 10″ x 12″, $425 Lady Fingers Frost, oil on brushed aluminum panel, 19″ x 15″ Sean Kelly Gallery, NYC “Spotlights”, oil on brushed aluminum, 19″ x 15″, SOLD Spokes Louise Bourgeois, Maman Cone Flower Farm “Beaver Creek Trail”, 21″ x 22″, oil on steel, $1400 View From The Shed, 20″ x 24″ + frame, Sold “Metamorphosis” $7000, in a Park City boudoir. “First Snow”, 40″ x 40″, Oil on steel, $5600 Lakeside View “Grey Sky at the Beach”, 8″ x 8″, oil on wood panel, $200 Carmen and me at the Stricoff Gallery during Armory Show Week in 2018. “Red Sky at Night”, 24″ x 24″, oil on metal Biba, Barbara Hulanicky Temple Lily Pestilence arrives in NYC Painting by Eric Schmidt Vivian Westwood Marie Cutoli -French “First Snow”, 40″x 40″, oil on aluminum, $5600 Pillars in the Northern Sky, oil on brushed aluminum panel, 29 x 29, $2750. “Three Penny Opera, a new acquisition, 2018!
