Frost, oil on aluminum, 19″ x 15″, $975 Carmen and me at the Stricoff Gallery during Armory Show Week in 2018. Floating Flora Snowdrift, oil on a brushed aluminum panel, 19″ x 19″, $1150 I became obsessed with Street Art on the platform of the LIRR. It was mid-afternoon, no one was there, and I wasn’t sure I was in the right place to go into Manhattan. A man approached and we started talking. He was “Solus” a street artist from Dublin Ireland who was in town to work with “The Bushwick Collective” on the murals in Brooklyn. This was a few years ago, before it became super popular. He was telling me about the murals he had planned for some walls in Manhattan and that he was invited to participate in “Art Basel” in Miami. At this point I thought he was telling some tall tales so when I got on the train I googled him. It was all true. I investigated the Bushwick Collective and my love of Street Art was born. Interpreting flowers in spray paint brings a modern edge to a traditional subject. The veils of color create softness and new colors, blending the edges and building a rich hue on the flat surface of the silver steel. In this piece, I experimented with masking, using cut out curves and edges to shield the panel while layering colors on top. “Grounded”, oil on brushed aluminum, 19″ x 15″, SOLD Dancing Pine, 10″ x 12″, oil on canvas, $400 Winter Beach #1, Oil on canvas, 14″ x 18″, $900 “Full Tilt-Vertical”, Oil on brushed aluminum panel, 51″ x 39″, SOLD Delphinium, acrylic on steel, 51″ x 39″, $7250 Seaweed, 16″ x 12″, oil paint on a brushed aluminum panel, $975 Ribbons of Blue, oil on brushed aluminum, 27″ x 27″, SOLD Base painting for a cityscape idea. “Pony Marsh”, 12″ x 12″, oil on canvas, Sold Delphinium, $7250, in a NYC apartment. “Aerial Blush”, oil on aluminum, 15″ x 19″, $975 Mountain Triptych, all panels, 48″ x 96″, Oil on aluminum, $7400 Soaring to new heights in a hot air balloon led to my fascination of painting from a bird’s eye view in my Mountains series.
