Floating Flora Manley Beach, Australia Earth Day after clean up, after! Pestilence arrives in NYC I became obsessed with Street Art on the platform of the LIRR. It was mid-afternoon, no one was there, and I wasn’t sure I was in the right place to go into Manhattan. A man approached and we started talking. He was “Solus” a street artist from Dublin Ireland who was in town to work with “The Bushwick Collective” on the murals in Brooklyn. This was a few years ago, before it became super popular. He was telling me about the murals he had planned for some walls in Manhattan and that he was invited to participate in “Art Basel” in Miami. At this point I thought he was telling some tall tales so when I got on the train I googled him. It was all true. I investigated the Bushwick Collective and my love of Street Art was born. Interpreting flowers in spray paint brings a modern edge to a traditional subject. The veils of color create softness and new colors, blending the edges and building a rich hue on the flat surface of the silver steel. In this piece, I experimented with masking, using cut out curves and edges to shield the panel while layering colors on top. “Plaza Mayor”, 14″ x 14″ oil on canvas, $600 “First Snow”, 40″ x 40″, Oil on steel, $5600 “Silver Meadow”, 24″ x 36″, oil on steel, $2600 Soft Pink, 36″ x 48″ Shadow Woman – Patriot, oil on aluminum, 27″ x 27″, $2250 Wild Flower, 24″ x 36″ Winter Beach #1, Oil on canvas, 14″ x 18″, $900 Trent Call’s Coffee Guy “Silver Lining”, 41″ X 41″, oil on steel, Sold LA Sky, 27″ x 27″, oil paint on a brushed aluminum panel, $2250 “Tidal Pool”, 24″x24″, oil on linen, $1700 Back Porch View, Tannery Road, oil on canvas, 18″ x 20″, $1100 Silver Horizon, oil on aluminum,15″ x 19″, Sold Lava Road, 36″ x 51″ Oil on steel, $6400 “Midnight Ride”, oil on brushed aluminum, 39″ x 51″, $6900 “Electrical Storm”, 19″ x 38″, oil on aluminum, $2200 Wim Botha, 21c, Crystal Bridges Trip, Bentonville “Connor’s Ride” 14″ x 14″, oil on linen, $600 Spokes Lady Fingers Carmen, acrylic on steel, 39″ x 51″,$7250 Fire on the Mountain, oil on brushed aluminum, 27″ x 27″, $2500 Metamophosis in the Artbox Gallery booth at the Spectrum Miami show, 2016.
