It was mid-afternoon, no one was there, and I wasn’t sure I was in the right place to go into Manhattan. A man approached and we started talking. He was “Solus” a street artist from Dublin Ireland who was in town to work with “The Bushwick Collective” on the murals in Brooklyn. This was a few years ago, before it became super popular. He was telling me about the murals he had planned for some walls in Manhattan and that he was invited to participate in “Art Basel” in Miami. At this point I thought he was telling some tall tales so when I got on the train I googled him. It was all true. I investigated the Bushwick Collective and my love of Street Art was born. Interpreting flowers in spray paint brings a modern edge to a traditional subject. The veils of color create softness and new colors, blending the edges and building a rich hue on the flat surface of the silver steel. In this piece, I experimented with masking, using cut out curves and edges to shield the panel while layering colors on top. 3rd Floor Mural at China Bridge, Park City 2018 “Tuileries”, oil on linen, 24″ x 24″ $1700 Winter Beach #1, Oil on canvas, 14″ x 18″, $900 Miami Art Show at the Eduardo Lira Art Gallery2075 NW 2nd Ave, Miami, FL 33127 Silver Beach, 12″ x 16″, oil paint on a brushed aluminum panel, $975 Spiraling Fauna, 2015, 39 x 51, oil on steel, Sold Trent Call’s Couple out on the Town Downstream, Hope Creek, oil on canvas, 21″ x 21″, $1350 Mountain Triptych, panel 1 of 3, 24″ x 48″, Oil on aluminum Utah Skies, 15″ x 30″ oil on canvas, $1400 Mountain Rain, oil on brushed aluminum panel, 19″ x 15″, $975 Red Sky at Night #2, oil paint on a brushed aluminum panel, 27″ x 27″, SOLD Surreal Parade Amoeba Flora Inside the Eduardo Lira Art Gallery for the Miami 2.0 Artbox Show 2019!
