It was mid-afternoon, no one was there, and I wasn’t sure I was in the right place to go into Manhattan. A man approached and we started talking. He was “Solus” a street artist from Dublin Ireland who was in town to work with “The Bushwick Collective” on the murals in Brooklyn. This was a few years ago, before it became super popular. He was telling me about the murals he had planned for some walls in Manhattan and that he was invited to participate in “Art Basel” in Miami. At this point I thought he was telling some tall tales so when I got on the train I googled him. It was all true. I investigated the Bushwick Collective and my love of Street Art was born. Interpreting flowers in spray paint brings a modern edge to a traditional subject. The veils of color create softness and new colors, blending the edges and building a rich hue on the flat surface of the silver steel. In this piece, I experimented with masking, using cut out curves and edges to shield the panel while layering colors on top. “Going Home”, 13″ x 15″, oil on canvas, $725 Summer Storm, 24″ x 36″ unframed, Oil on canvas, Sold “Carmen”, 40″ x 52″, acrylic spray paint on steel, $7250 “Pony Marsh #2, 11” x 14″+ frame, Sold Mouth of the Gorge, Dart River, New Zealand Playful Orange, 36″ x 48″ Cynthia at PCR! “Carmen”, 39″ x 51″, acrylic spray paint on steel, $7250 Louise Bourgeois, Maman Moon over the NJ Shore #1 Spokes “Sky Scrapers”, oil on brushed aluminum, 19″ x 15″, $975 Gallery wall detail of Celestial Rhapsody and my sunset paintings! “Half Moon Bay”, 24″ x 24″,oil on linen, $1700 Lauren’s Rose, 38″ x 48″,Acrylic on recycled, distressed board, $6400, Carmel by the Sea, inspirational tree photo. “Wildflower Meadow”, 24″ x 36″, oil on steel, $500 framed Trent Call’s Running Guy “Tropical Red”, 21″x 21″ acrylic spray paint on steel, Sold Treasure Hollow, oil on brushed aluminum, 27″ x 33″,$2900 “Silver Snow”, 39″ x 51″, Oil on steel, Sold Ribbons of Blue, oil on brushed aluminum, 27″ x 27″, SOLD “Indigo Rain”, oil on brushed aluminum, 15″ x 19″, Sold Soaring to new heights in a hot air balloon led to my fascination of painting from a bird’s eye view in my Mountains series.
