I became obsessed with Street Art on the platform of the LIRR. It was mid-afternoon, no one was there, and I wasn’t sure I was in the right place to go into Manhattan. A man approached and we started talking. He was “Solus” a street artist from Dublin Ireland who was in town to work with “The Bushwick Collective” on the murals in Brooklyn. This was a few years ago, before it became super popular. He was telling me about the murals he had planned for some walls in Manhattan and that he was invited to participate in “Art Basel” in Miami. At this point I thought he was telling some tall tales so when I got on the train I googled him. It was all true. I investigated the Bushwick Collective and my love of Street Art was born. Interpreting flowers in spray paint brings a modern edge to a traditional subject. The veils of color create softness and new colors, blending the edges and building a rich hue on the flat surface of the silver steel. In this piece, I experimented with masking, using cut out curves and edges to shield the panel while layering colors on top. “Wildflower Meadow”, 24″ x 36″, oil on steel, $500 framed Delphinium, acrylic on steel, 51″ x 39″, $7250 Going Up “Half Moon Bay”, 24″ x 24″,oil on linen, $1700 “Electrical Storm”, 19″ x 38″, oil on aluminum, $2200 The Kemper, Kansas City, MO Snæfellsjökull National Park, Snæfellsbær, Western Iceland, Iceland Snakes and Snails Trent Call’s Film Maker Westport, oil on canvas, 12″ x 12″, $400 “Into the Storm”, 39″ x 51″, oil on steel, Sold Surreal Wave, oil on brushed aluminum, 19″ x 15″, $975 “Metamorphosis”, acrylic spray paint on steel, 39″ x 51″, $6000 “Sherwood Inverted”, 25″ x 37″, oil on steel, $3300 “First Snow”, 40″x 40″, oil on aluminum, $5600 A Giant’s View, 24″ x 36″ Stillness in Motion, Oil on white aluminum panel, 51″ x 51″, “Summer Storm”, 15.5″ x 19.5″, etching ink on paper, $975 Mountain Triptych, panel 1 of 3, 24″ x 48″, Oil on aluminum Rugged Grandeur, oil on brushed aluminum, 15″ x19″ “Full Tilt”, 37″ x 39″, oil on aluminum, $5100 Trent Call’s Tweety Bird with Mining Carts “Silver Falls”, 40″x 40″, Oil on steel, Sold Winter Beach #2, Oil on canvas, 14″ x 18″, $900 Sherwood Island, Winter Beach, oil on canvas, 18″ x 18″,$1100 “Devil’s Den”, 30″ x 34″, oil on natural linen, $3000 Shine On, 19″ x 38″, oil paint on a brushed aluminum panel, $2200 Work in progress “Sherwood Inverted”, 25″ x 37″, oil on steel, $3300 Snowbird Melting, oil on aluminum panel, 51″ x 51″, $8750 “Spotlights” in The ArtBox Gallery, Zurich, Switzerland Cheshire Flora Spokes Classic, amazing landscape.
