I became obsessed with Street Art on the platform of the LIRR. It was mid-afternoon, no one was there, and I wasn’t sure I was in the right place to go into Manhattan. A man approached and we started talking. He was “Solus” a street artist from Dublin Ireland who was in town to work with “The Bushwick Collective” on the murals in Brooklyn. This was a few years ago, before it became super popular. He was telling me about the murals he had planned for some walls in Manhattan and that he was invited to participate in “Art Basel” in Miami. At this point I thought he was telling some tall tales so when I got on the train I googled him. It was all true. I investigated the Bushwick Collective and my love of Street Art was born. Interpreting flowers in spray paint brings a modern edge to a traditional subject. The veils of color create softness and new colors, blending the edges and building a rich hue on the flat surface of the silver steel. In this piece, I experimented with masking, using cut out curves and edges to shield the panel while layering colors on top. “Moonlight Reflections”, oil on brushed aluminum, 27″ x 27″, SOLD “Switchbacks” , oil on brushed aluminum, 40″ x 40″, $5600 Wild Flower, 24″ x 36″ Reykjavík, Iceland Summer Storm, 24″ x 36″ unframed, Oil on canvas, Sold Downstream, Hope Creek, oil on canvas, 21″ x 21″, $1350 “Whispers”, oil on aluminum, 39″ x 51″, $6900 Aspen Eyes Sheffield Island, 24″ x 36″ Sold Frost, oil on aluminum, 19″ x 15″, $975 Violet Iris, acrylic spray paint on steel, 39″ x 51″, Sold Golden Glow 2, oil on gold toned aluminum, 27″ x 27″ $2500 Salt Lake City, 19″ x 34″, oil on linen $1900 Frost, oil on brushed aluminum panel, 19″ x 15″, Take away price $1500! “Aqua Shots”, 21″x 21″, acrylic spray paint on steel, Sold Lava Road, 36″ x 51″, oil on steel, $6400 Aramis, oil paint on a brushed aluminum panel, 15″ x 15″, $800 Winter Beach #2, Oil on canvas, 14″ x 18″, $900 Mountain Triptych in a Park City Home (Promontory).
