It was mid-afternoon, no one was there, and I wasn’t sure I was in the right place to go into Manhattan. A man approached and we started talking. He was “Solus” a street artist from Dublin Ireland who was in town to work with “The Bushwick Collective” on the murals in Brooklyn. This was a few years ago, before it became super popular. He was telling me about the murals he had planned for some walls in Manhattan and that he was invited to participate in “Art Basel” in Miami. At this point I thought he was telling some tall tales so when I got on the train I googled him. It was all true. I investigated the Bushwick Collective and my love of Street Art was born. Interpreting flowers in spray paint brings a modern edge to a traditional subject. The veils of color create softness and new colors, blending the edges and building a rich hue on the flat surface of the silver steel. In this piece, I experimented with masking, using cut out curves and edges to shield the panel while layering colors on top. “Shady Stars”, 21″ x 21″, acrylic spray paint on steel, Sold Moon over the NJ Shore #1 Moon over the NJ Shore #3 Summer Storm Shadow, 15.5″ x 19.5″ etching ink on paper, $975 Back Porch View, Tannery Road, oil on canvas, 18″ x 20″, $1100 Sheffield Island, 24″ x 36″ Sold “Where There is Smoke, There is Fire” 16″ x 18″, oil on aluminum, $975. “Blue Horizon”, oil on aluminum, 19″ x 15″ $975 Dancing Pine, oil on canvas, 10″ x 12″, $425 “Frost”, oil on aluminum, 19″ x 15″, $975 Shine On, 19″ x 38″, oil paint on a brushed aluminum panel, $2200 “Silver Lining”, 41″ X 41″, oil on steel, Sold “Off Trail PC”R, 13″ x 16”, oil on canvas, $600 Whitecaps, oil on brushed aluminum 19″ x 15″, $975 Delphinium, vertical, acrylic spray paint, 39″ x 51″, $7250 Trent Call’s Skiers enjoying the challenge. “Silver Snow”, 39″ x 51″, Oil on steel, Sold “Vertigo 2”, 30 x 60, metalic acrylic, mixed medium on canvas, $6300 Carmel by the Sea, Sunset Japanese Maples, oil on linen, 23″ x 23″, $1600 Image Info Dimensions 1,898 × 2,560 Name open-wide-say-ahhhhh-1-scaled-1.jpg Mime Type image/jpeg Type JPG Size 408.71 KB
