Living in Park City, Utah, I have met Olympians, extreme athletes, and all kinds of outdoor enthusiasts. Back country skiing is common here and many of the folks I meet enjoy the activity. This painting was inspired by a photo from a friend who hiked Mt. Shasta, in California, seeking adventure. This is one from deep in my subconscious. I grew up in a house that was well over 200 years old. It had a lot of character and many strange things occurred in this house. I often sensed there was a presence lurking nearby and was afraid to go to bed at night. I like to paint from a birds eye view, there is something spiritual about being above it all, soaring through the sky, drifting on the currents of air. I have many incredible memories of warm summers spent on the lakes of Upstate New York. We would watch as the storms progressed from the far side of the lake to our shore, taking cover on the porch or, if we were at the beach, sheltered in the car until it blew over. The crosswalk seems to melt while the traffic rushes by. Charred palm trees solemnly stand, observing the hazy twilight. Silver reflections dance across the wires and lights of this urban evening. Hopefully the pandemic has given us time to think about our own, personal legacy.

Fiordland National Park in New Zealand is an otherworldly place of infinite beauty. I have never seen as many waterfalls in one place as when I visited there. I wanted to capture the ancient feeling I had when visiting this land that seemed untouched by human beings. The aerial view is a favorite of mine. I hope to convey the feeling of gliding through the air towards the "Silver Lake", with the water flowing all around. A contemporary abstract floral acrylic spray painting on metal panel by artist Cynthia McLoughlin — I became obsessed with Street Art on the platform of the LIRR. It was mid-afternoon, no one was there, and I wasn’t sure I was in the right place to go into Manhattan. A man approached and we started talking. He was “Solus” a street artist from Dublin Ireland who was in town to work with “The Bushwick Collective” on the murals in Brooklyn. This was a few years ago, before it became super popular. He was telling me about the murals he had planned for some walls in Manhattan and that he was invited to participate in “Art Basel” in Miami. At this point I thought he was telling some tall tales so when I got on the train I googled him. It was all true. I investigated the Bushwick Collective and my love of Street Art was born. Interpreting flowers in spray paint brings a modern edge to a traditional subject. The veils of color create softness and new colors, blending the edges and building a rich hue on the flat surface of the silver steel. In this piece, I experimented with masking, using cut out curves and edges to shield the panel while layering colors on top.

I spent about ten years in Westport, CT. Almost every day, I would head to Sherwood Island State Park, the oldest State Park in CT. It is a beautiful place and during the week, it doesn't get many visitors. It has a two lovely expansive, sand beaches on Long Island Sound, ruins of old farm houses, an orchard which must be from revolutionary times, wood and wetlands, (which make a wonderful bird sanctuary), and miles of paths to walk through it all. It is incredibly peaceful. Fiordland National Park in New Zealand is an otherworldly place of infinite beauty. I have never seen as many waterfalls in one place as when I visited there. I wanted to capture the ancient feeling I had when visiting this land that seemed untouched by human beings. The aerial view is a favorite of mine. I hope to convey the feeling of gliding through the air towards the "Silver Lake", with the water flowing all around. I love to travel and in March, 2019, I went in search of the Northern Lights. Iceland was the most amazing, desolate, and extreme climate which I have ever experienced. I now understand how a person could die from exposure. It was however, spectacularly beautiful, changeable and the light had this incredible blue cast, reflecting off the snow. This is one from deep in my subconscious. I grew up in a house that was well over 200 years old. It had a lot of character and many strange things occurred in this house. I often sensed there was a presence lurking nearby and was afraid to go to bed at night. My mom would leave the light on in her room to comfort me, which helped me to go to sleep at night. — “I’ll be right in the next room…which was never close enough after a nightmare”. A superstorm blew into Park City, Utah on February 18th, 2016. The temperature dropped twenty degrees in five minutes when the storm overtook our town. I was so captivated by the drama happening in the sky, I pulled my car over to the side of the road and took pictures of the event. I have worked a whole series of paintings around that event, experimenting with the clouds, developing my techniques, exposing the reflective silver of the panels by scraping, buffing, and simply leaving it as negative space. My work is difficult to capture in a photograph as the reflective light quality is lost in the transition to a digital format. The best way to experience my paintings is to visit the Summit Gallery or the gallery wall at Oohs and Aah's in Park City, Utah to see my original works. — Celestial Rhapsody, oil on a brushed aluminum panel, 99″ x 51″, Sold

I have many incredible memories of warm summers spent on the lakes of Upstate New York. We would watch as the storms progressed from the far side of the lake to our shore, taking cover on the porch or, if we were at the beach, sheltered in the car until it blew over. I used different sizes of brayers to lay down the initial indigo and abstract the mountains and roadside. The area in the upper right is sanded with steel wool to let the silver reflection show through, bringing reflective light as opposed to the clouds which are painted, splattered and dripped into place. No Boundaries was inspired by the Northern California mountains. I like to paint from a birds eye view, there is something spiritual about being above it all, soaring through the sky, drifting on the currents of air. My hope is to bring a feeling of peace and calm to the viewer, helping them to realize we are all guardians of our beautiful planet. I spent about ten years in Westport, CT. Almost every day, I would head to Sherwood Island State Park, the oldest State Park in CT. It is a beautiful place and during the week, it doesn't get many visitors. It has a two lovely expansive, sand beaches on Long Island Sound, ruins of old farm houses, an orchard which must be from revolutionary times, wood and wetlands, (which make a wonderful bird sanctuary), and miles of paths to walk through it all. It is incredibly peaceful. I have many incredible memories of warm summers spent on the lakes of Upstate New York. We would watch as the storms progressed from the far side of the lake to our shore, taking cover on the porch or, if we were at the beach, sheltered in the car until it blew over. This abstract diptych suggests a moon rise. The sky is illuminated by the moon's warm, peachy glow, through the clouds. It is surrounded by mottled blue and and deep, purple clouds. A contemporary abstract floral acrylic spray painting on metal panel by artist Cynthia McLoughlin — I became obsessed with Street Art on the platform of the LIRR. It was mid-afternoon, no one was there, and I wasn’t sure I was in the right place to go into Manhattan. A man approached and we started talking. He was “Solus” a street artist from Dublin Ireland who was in town to work with “The Bushwick Collective” on the murals in Brooklyn. This was a few years ago, before it became super popular. He was telling me about the murals he had planned for some walls in Manhattan and that he was invited to participate in “Art Basel” in Miami. At this point I thought he was telling some tall tales so when I got on the train I googled him. It was all true. I investigated the Bushwick Collective and my love of Street Art was born. Interpreting flowers in spray paint brings a modern edge to a traditional subject. The veils of color create softness and new colors, blending the edges and building a rich hue on the flat surface of the silver steel. In this piece, I experimented with masking, using cut out curves and edges to shield the panel while layering colors on top.
