It was mid-afternoon, no one was there, and I wasn’t sure I was in the right place to go into Manhattan. A man approached and we started talking. He was “Solus” a street artist from Dublin Ireland who was in town to work with “The Bushwick Collective” on the murals in Brooklyn. This was a few years ago, before it became super popular. He was telling me about the murals he had planned for some walls in Manhattan and that he was invited to participate in “Art Basel” in Miami. At this point I thought he was telling some tall tales so when I got on the train I googled him. It was all true. I investigated the Bushwick Collective and my love of Street Art was born. Interpreting flowers in spray paint brings a modern edge to a traditional subject. Interpreting flowers in spray paint brings a modern edge to a traditional subject. The veils of color create softness and new colors, blending the edges and building a rich hue on the flat surface of the silver steel. In this piece, I experimented with masking, using cut out curves and edges to shield the panel while layering colors on top. “Connor’s Ride”, 12 x 12, oil on linen, $600 “Butterfly Wings”, oil on brushed aluminum, 27″ x 27″, $2500 Above the Clouds, oil paint on a brushed aluminum panel, 39″ x 51″, Sold Contrasts, 12″ x 12″ Sold “Electrical Storm”, 19″ x 38″, oil on aluminum, $2200 Cheshire Flora Southold Beach, 20″ x 20, $1400 Dancing Pine, 10″ x 12″, oil on canvas, $400 Murdock Peak – Altitude, 9602’ “Silver Snow” in a modern New Mexico retreat. “Devil’s Den”, 30″ x 34″, oil on natural linen, $3000 Grundarfjarðarbær, Western Iceland, Iceland Trent Call’s Couple out on the Town Japanese Maples, oil on linen, 23″ x 23″, $1600 Westport, oil on canvas, 12″ x 12″, $400 Red Truck, (in progress), 27 x 33, oil on brushed aluminum, $3100 “Wildflower Meadow”, 24″ x 36″, oil on steel, $500 framed “Half Moon Bay”, 24″ x 24″,oil on linen, $1700 Trent Call’s Traveler Earth Day after clean up, after! Mindfulness I became obsessed with Street Art on the platform of the LIRR.
