It was mid-afternoon, no one was there, and I wasn’t sure I was in the right place to go into Manhattan. A man approached and we started talking. He was “Solus” a street artist from Dublin Ireland who was in town to work with “The Bushwick Collective” on the murals in Brooklyn. This was a few years ago, before it became super popular. He was telling me about the murals he had planned for some walls in Manhattan and that he was invited to participate in “Art Basel” in Miami. At this point I thought he was telling some tall tales so when I got on the train I googled him. It was all true. I investigated the Bushwick Collective and my love of Street Art was born. Interpreting flowers in spray paint brings a modern edge to a traditional subject. The veils of color create softness and new colors, blending the edges and building a rich hue on the flat surface of the silver steel. In this piece, I experimented with masking, using cut out curves and edges to shield the panel while layering colors on top. “Frost”, oil on aluminum, 19″ x 15″, $975 Trent Call’s Coffee Guy Trent Call’s Pussy Cat Kings Highway North, Oil on steel, 40″ x 30″, $3600 “Vertigo”, 24″ x 36″, oil on steel, Sold Mountain Triptych, all panels, 48″ x 96″, Oil on aluminum, $7400 Celestial Rhapsody installed with my sunset series in this incredible New Mexico home. “Metamorphosis”, acrylic spray paint on steel, 39″ x 51″, $6000 “Pony Marsh”, 12″ x 12″, oil on canvas, Sold “Half Moon Bay”, 24″ x 24″,oil on linen, $1700 Snow Squalls, Provo Canyon, oil on aluminum panel, 39″ x 51″, $6900 “Sherwood Inverted”, 24″ x 36″, oil on steel, $2400 framed Silver Road, oil on aluminum, 39″ x 39″, $5300 Early Morning Flight, Oil on an aluminum panel, 16″x 16″, $975 Twilight 48th Street, oil on canvas, 18″ x 24″, $1300 “Matrix”, oil on brushed aluminum, 19″ x 15″, SOLD Dreamscape, oil paint on a brushed aluminum panel, 27″ x 27″, Sold Cliffs of Carmel, oil on linen, 20″ x 20″, $1200 “Whispers”, oil on aluminum, 39″ x 51″, $6900 Trent Call’s Running Guy Elizabeth Hawes, American 1928-40 Earth Day clean up, after!
