Lakeside View I became obsessed with Street Art on the platform of the LIRR. It was mid-afternoon, no one was there, and I wasn’t sure I was in the right place to go into Manhattan. A man approached and we started talking. He was “Solus” a street artist from Dublin Ireland who was in town to work with “The Bushwick Collective” on the murals in Brooklyn. This was a few years ago, before it became super popular. He was telling me about the murals he had planned for some walls in Manhattan and that he was invited to participate in “Art Basel” in Miami. At this point I thought he was telling some tall tales so when I got on the train I googled him. It was all true. I investigated the Bushwick Collective and my love of Street Art was born. Interpreting flowers in spray paint brings a modern edge to a traditional subject. The veils of color create softness and new colors, blending the edges and building a rich hue on the flat surface of the silver steel. In this piece, I experimented with masking, using cut out curves and edges to shield the panel while layering colors on top. “Grey Sky at the Beach”, 8″ x 8″, oil on wood panel, $200 “Electrical Storm”, 19″ x 38″, oil on aluminum, $2200 January Eye Amazon Burning, oil on brushed aluminum, 27 x 27″, $2250 Salt Lake City, 19″ x 34″, oil on linen $1900 “Delphinium”, acrylic spray paint on steel, 51″x 39″, $7250 Earth Day Clean Up, before… Wasatch Back, oil on brushed aluminum, 27″ x 51″, Sold Stillness in Motion, Oil on white aluminum panel, 51″ x 51″, Lava Road, 36″ x 51″ Oil on steel, $5500 Lauren’s Rose, 38″ x 46″ Golden Glow 2, oil on gold toned aluminum, 27″ x 27″ $2500 Lauren’s Rose, 38″ x 48″,Acrylic on recycled, distressed board, $6400, Ablaze, oil on brushed aluminum, 27 x 51, $4100 Silver Road, oil on aluminum, 39″ x 39″, Sold Soft Pink, 36″ x 48″ “Red Sky at Night”, 24″ x 24″, oil on linen, $1700 Summer Storm/Summer Storm Shadow $900 each, &Big Red, $7250, in a NYC apartment.
