It was mid-afternoon, no one was there, and I wasn’t sure I was in the right place to go into Manhattan. A man approached and we started talking. He was “Solus” a street artist from Dublin Ireland who was in town to work with “The Bushwick Collective” on the murals in Brooklyn. This was a few years ago, before it became super popular. He was telling me about the murals he had planned for some walls in Manhattan and that he was invited to participate in “Art Basel” in Miami. At this point I thought he was telling some tall tales so when I got on the train I googled him. It was all true. I investigated the Bushwick Collective and my love of Street Art was born. Interpreting flowers in spray paint brings a modern edge to a traditional subject. The veils of color create softness and new colors, blending the edges and building a rich hue on the flat surface of the silver steel. In this piece, I experimented with masking, using cut out curves and edges to shield the panel while layering colors on top. “Heber Barn”, 14″ x 14″, oil on canvas, $600 “Connor’s Ride” 14″ x 14″, oil on linen, $600 “Half Moon Bay”, 24″ x 24″,oil on linen, $1700 January Eye “Heber Barn”, 14″ x 14″, oil on canvas, $600 Late Afternoon, 48″ x 60″ “Early Morning Road to JFK” in a New Mexico desert home. “right-beside-me,” oil painting by Carol O’Malia “Frost”, oil on aluminum, 19″ x 15″, $975 “Pony Marsh #2, 11” x 14″+ frame, Sold “Switchbacks” , oil on brushed aluminum, 40″ x 40″, $5600 Morning Ride in Wilton, oil on linen, 24″ x 30″, $2200 Salt Lake City, 19″ x 34″, oil on linen $1900 “Tuileries”, oil on linen, 24″ x 24″ $1700 “Beaver Creek Trail”, 21″ x 22″, oil on steel, $1400 Soft Pink, 36″ x 48″ Mountain Triptych, all panels, 48″ x 96″, Oil on aluminum, $7400 Big Red, acrylic on steel, 39″ x 51″, $72500 “Sherwood Inverted”, 24″ x 36″, oil on steel, $2400 framed Overton’s, 24″ x 36″, Oil on aluminum “Midnight Ride”, oil on brushed aluminum, 39″ x 51″, $6900 “Into the Storm”, 39″ x 51″, oil on steel, Sold “Indigo Rain”, oil on brushed aluminum, 15″ x 19″, Sold “Connor’s Ride” 14″ x 14″, oil on linen, $600 Summer Storm Shadow, 15.5″ x 19.5″ etching ink on paper, $975 Ode to Dr. Suess Dancing Pine, oil on canvas, 10″ x 12″, $425 “Connor’s Ride”, 12 x 12, oil on linen, $600 “Lava Fields”, 38″ x 50″, Oil on Steel, Sold Vortex View From Partrick Bridge, 24″ x 36″ Sold The Road Less Traveled, oil on canvas 36″ x 72″, $7800 Avalanche, oil on brushed aluminum panel, 19″ x 15″, $975 Ablaze, oil on brushed aluminum, 27 x 51, Sold “Spiraling Flora” in a Deer Valley home.
