It was mid-afternoon, no one was there, and I wasn’t sure I was in the right place to go into Manhattan. A man approached and we started talking. He was “Solus” a street artist from Dublin Ireland who was in town to work with “The Bushwick Collective” on the murals in Brooklyn. This was a few years ago, before it became super popular. He was telling me about the murals he had planned for some walls in Manhattan and that he was invited to participate in “Art Basel” in Miami. At this point I thought he was telling some tall tales so when I got on the train I googled him. It was all true. I investigated the Bushwick Collective and my love of Street Art was born. Interpreting flowers in spray paint brings a modern edge to a traditional subject. The veils of color create softness and new colors, blending the edges and building a rich hue on the flat surface of the silver steel. In this piece, I experimented with masking, using cut out curves and edges to shield the panel while layering colors on top. “Frost”, oil on aluminum, 19″ x 15″, $975 Malieficent Metamorphosis Pillars in the Northern Sky, oil on brushed aluminum panel, 29 x 29, $2750. “Vertigo”, 24″ x 36″, oil on steel, Sold Westport, oil on canvas, 12″ x 12″, $400 Cone Flower Farm “Lava Fields” in a Park City home. “Sherwood Inverted”, 25″ x 37″, oil on steel, $3300 Solar Reveal, 42″ x 54″ oil on steel, Sold Helgafellssveit, Western Iceland, Iceland View From The Shed, 20″ x 24″ + frame, Sold Big Red, acrylic on steel, 39″ x 51″, $7250 Silver Road, oil on aluminum, 39″ x 39″, $5300 “Connor’s Ride” 14″ x 14″, oil on linen, $600 Snow Squalls, Provo Canyon, oil on aluminum panel, 39″ x 51″, $6900 “Acid Test”, oil on brushed aluminum, 15″ x 15″, $800 “Matrix”, oil on brushed aluminum, 19″ x 15″, SOLD Surreal Monster Flowers “Sunrise on the Wasatch Mountains” 19″ x 34″ Lava Road, 36″ x 51″, oil on steel, $6400 “Silvery Moon” Triptych, 48″ x 100″ appx, oil on aluminum, Sold Open Wide and say Ahhhh Manley Beach, Australia “right-beside-me,” oil painting by Carol O’Malia Trent Call’s Running Guy Tungubakkar, Reykjavík, Iceland “Silver Lake” A work in progress in Cynthia’s studio.
