It was mid-afternoon, no one was there, and I wasn’t sure I was in the right place to go into Manhattan. A man approached and we started talking. He was “Solus” a street artist from Dublin Ireland who was in town to work with “The Bushwick Collective” on the murals in Brooklyn. This was a few years ago, before it became super popular. He was telling me about the murals he had planned for some walls in Manhattan and that he was invited to participate in “Art Basel” in Miami. At this point I thought he was telling some tall tales so when I got on the train I googled him. It was all true. I investigated the Bushwick Collective and my love of Street Art was born. Interpreting flowers in spray paint brings a modern edge to a traditional subject. The veils of color create softness and new colors, blending the edges and building a rich hue on the flat surface of the silver steel. In this piece, I experimented with masking, using cut out curves and edges to shield the panel while layering colors on top. “Devil’s Den”, 30″ x 34″, oil on natural linen, $3000 Autumn Wind by Hung Liu, Crystal Bridges “Sky Scrapers”, oil on brushed aluminum, 19″ x 15″, $975 “Silver Ridgelines”, 38’x 39″, oil on aluminum, Sold Jellyfish Sky, 16″ x 12″, oil paint on a brushed aluminum panel, $975 “Matrix”, oil on brushed aluminum, 19″ x 15″, SOLD Off Trail in Park City, Oil on canvas, 13″ x 16″ , $700 “Full Tilt”, 37″ x 39″, oil on aluminum, $5100 Carmel by the Sea, 27″ x 27″, oil paint on a brushed aluminum panel, $2500 Big Red, acrylic on steel, 39″ x 51″, $72500 Pestilence arrives in NYC Japanese Maples, oil on linen, 23″ x 23″, $1600 Winter Beach #2, Oil on canvas, 14″ x 18″, $900 Image Info Dimensions 1,920 × 2,560 Date April 10, 2021 Camera iPhone X Aperture f⁄1 Focal Length 4 mm ISO 32 Shutter Speed 1⁄30 sec Name Solace-Triptych-in-progress-scaled.jpeg Mime Type image/jpeg Type JPEG Size 321.10 KB
