It was mid-afternoon, no one was there, and I wasn’t sure I was in the right place to go into Manhattan. A man approached and we started talking. He was “Solus” a street artist from Dublin Ireland who was in town to work with “The Bushwick Collective” on the murals in Brooklyn. This was a few years ago, before it became super popular. He was telling me about the murals he had planned for some walls in Manhattan and that he was invited to participate in “Art Basel” in Miami. At this point I thought he was telling some tall tales so when I got on the train I googled him. It was all true. I investigated the Bushwick Collective and my love of Street Art was born. Interpreting flowers in spray paint brings a modern edge to a traditional subject. The veils of color create softness and new colors, blending the edges and building a rich hue on the flat surface of the silver steel. In this piece, I experimented with masking, using cut out curves and edges to shield the panel while layering colors on top. Carmen, acrylic on steel, 39″ x 51″,$7250 I became obsessed with Street Art on the platform of the LIRR. View From Partrick Bridge, 24″ x 36″ Sold Soaring to new heights in a hot air balloon led to my fascination of painting from a bird’s eye view in my Mountains series. Cultures across the span of history have gravitated to the mountains for peace and clarity, as do I. “Ridgelines”, 40″ x 52″, oil paint on an aluminum panel, $6900 Overton’s Reykjavík, Iceland Underpass, Into the Light, oil on brushed aluminum. 39″ x 39″, $5300 Lava Road, 36″ x 51″ Oil on steel, $5500 Georgiana, oil on canvas, 10″ x 12″, $425 Grandeur, oil on a brushed aluminum panel, 39″ x 51″, Sold Safe Passage, oil on brushed aluminum, 27″ x 51″, $4100 Base painting on the easel. “Summer Storm”, 15.5″ x 19.5″, etching ink on paper, $975 On the Way Home, oil paint on a brushed aluminum panel, 27″ x 27″, SOLD Soft Pink, 36″ x 48″ A Giant’s View, 24″ x 36″ Solar Reveal, 42″ x 54″ oil on steel, Sold Creeping Arachnids Train to Seville, framed, Oil on canvas, 12″ x 14″ $550 “Calm Before the Storm”, oil on aluminum, 17″ x 19″, $1000 “Ridgelines”, 40″ x 52″, oil paint on an aluminum panel, $6900 “Carmen”, 40″ x 52″, acrylic spray paint on steel, $7250 “Silver Snow” in a modern New Mexico retreat. “Skating on the Bridge”, 51″ x 51″, oil on aluminum panel, Sold Japanese Maples, oil on linen, 23″ x 23″, $1600 “First Snow”, 40″ x 40″, Oil on steel, $5600 “Into the Storm”, 39″ x 51″, oil on steel, Sold “Fairy Flower”, 36″ x 48″, acrylic on canvas, $7300 “Sky Scrapers”, oil on brushed aluminum, 19″ x 15″, $975 “Silver Lining”, 41″ X 41″, oil on steel, Sold Fairfield Beach, 24″x 36″, oil on steel, sold Crawling Under, oil on brushed aluminum, 19″ x 15″, $975 Wild Flower, 24″ x 36″ Salt Lake City, 19″ x 34″, oil on linen $1900 California Sunshine “Full Tilt-Vertical”, Oil on brushed aluminum panel, 51″ x 39″, SOLD “Aerial Blush”, oil on aluminum, 15″ x 19″, $975 Inside the Eduardo Lira Art Gallery for the Miami 2.0 Artbox Show 2019!
