It was mid-afternoon, no one was there, and I wasn’t sure I was in the right place to go into Manhattan. A man approached and we started talking. He was “Solus” a street artist from Dublin Ireland who was in town to work with “The Bushwick Collective” on the murals in Brooklyn. This was a few years ago, before it became super popular. He was telling me about the murals he had planned for some walls in Manhattan and that he was invited to participate in “Art Basel” in Miami. At this point I thought he was telling some tall tales so when I got on the train I googled him. It was all true. I investigated the Bushwick Collective and my love of Street Art was born. Interpreting flowers in spray paint brings a modern edge to a traditional subject. The veils of color create softness and new colors, blending the edges and building a rich hue on the flat surface of the silver steel. In this piece, I experimented with masking, using cut out curves and edges to shield the panel while layering colors on top. “Pony Marsh #2, 11” x 14″+ frame, Sold Winter Beach #2, Oil on canvas, 14″ x 18″, $900 Spring Thaw, oil on a brushed aluminum panel, 39″ x 39″, $5300 “Grey Sky at the Beach”, 8″ x 8″, oil on wood panel, $200 “First Snow”, 40″ x 40″, Oil on steel, $5600 Seaweed, 16″ x 12″, oil paint on a brushed aluminum panel, $975 Morning Ride in Wilton, oil on linen, 24″ x 30″, $2200 Twilight 48th Street, oil on canvas, 18″ x 24″, $1300 Vortex “Sherwood Inverted”, 25″ x 37″, oil on steel, $3300 “Silver Lake” A work in progress in Cynthia’s studio. “Frost”, oil on aluminum, 19″ x 15″, $975 Sean Kelly Gallery, NYC Soft Pink, 36″ x 48″ “Indigo Rain”, oil on brushed aluminum, 15″ x 19″, Sold “View from Partrick Bridge 2″, Oil on steel, 29″ x 42”. $3700 Trent Call’s Skateboarder Late Afternoon, 48″ x 60″ “Early Morning Road to JFK”, 16″ x 35″, oil on steel, Sold “Skating on the Bridge”, 51″ x 51″, oil on aluminum panel, Sold “First Snow”, 40″ x 40″, Oil on steel, $5600 Moth-flower Aglow “Slide”, 23″ x 23″ oil on aluminum, Sold 3rd Floor Mural at China Bridge, Park City 2018 Desert Highway, oil on brushed aluminum, 27″ x 51″, Sold “Carmen”, 39″ x 51″, acrylic spray paint on steel, $7250 “Half Moon Bay”, 24″ x 24″,oil on linen, $1700 “Grey Sky at the Beach”, 8″ x 8″, oil on wood panel, $200 Home from Deer Valley, 24″x24″ sold Inside SCOPE Miami Beach, 2019 Art Show! “Pony Marsh”, 12″ x 12″, oil on canvas, Sold Vines above 3rd Floor Mural at China Bridge, Park City 2018 “Connor’s Ride” 14″ x 14″, oil on linen, $600 Through the Storm, oil on brushed aluminum panel, 51 x 63 $10,500 “Silver Snow”, 39″ x 51″, Oil on steel, Sold “Delphinium”, acrylic spray paint on steel, 51″x 39″, $7250 “Day is Done”, oil on brushed aluminum, 15″ x 19″, $975 “Whispers”, oil on aluminum, 39″ x 51″, $6900 Winter Beach #1, Oil on canvas, 14″ x 18″, $900 Crawling Under, oil on brushed aluminum, 19″ x 15″, $975 Accobonac Harbor, 18″ x 24″, oil on line, $1300 Solar Reveal, 42″ x 54″ oil on steel, Sold Falling Up, Oil on a brushed aluminum panel, 16″x 16″, $975 “Early Morning Road to JFK” in a New Mexico desert home.
