Cultures across the span of history have gravitated to the mountains for peace and clarity, as do I. Overton’s “Sunrise on the Wasatch Mountains” 19″ x 34″ Pestilence arrives in NYC Rob Wynne, 2017, a newish acquisition, a whole series on poured mirrored glass. The punctuation marks were my favorites. “Full Tilt”, 37″ x 39″, oil on aluminum, $5100 “Midnight Ride”, oil on brushed aluminum, 39″ x 51″, $6900 I became obsessed with Street Art on the platform of the LIRR. It was mid-afternoon, no one was there, and I wasn’t sure I was in the right place to go into Manhattan. A man approached and we started talking. He was “Solus” a street artist from Dublin Ireland who was in town to work with “The Bushwick Collective” on the murals in Brooklyn. This was a few years ago, before it became super popular. He was telling me about the murals he had planned for some walls in Manhattan and that he was invited to participate in “Art Basel” in Miami. At this point I thought he was telling some tall tales so when I got on the train I googled him. It was all true. I investigated the Bushwick Collective and my love of Street Art was born. Interpreting flowers in spray paint brings a modern edge to a traditional subject. The veils of color create softness and new colors, blending the edges and building a rich hue on the flat surface of the silver steel. In this piece, I experimented with masking, using cut out curves and edges to shield the panel while layering colors on top. “Beaver Creek Trail”, 21″ x 22″, oil on steel, $1400 Delphinium, acrylic on steel, 51″ x 39″, $7250 Summer’s Twilight, oil on brushed aluminum, 19″ x19″, $1250 Sidewinder, oil on brushed aluminum, 39″ x 39″, $5300 Vortex Trent Call’s Coffee Guy Aspen Eyes “Indigo Rain”, oil on brushed aluminum, 15″ x 19″, Sold Cliffs of Carmel, oil on linen, 20″ x 20″, $1200 Surreal Parade Japanese Maples, oil on linen, 23″ x 23″, $1600 Bleeding Poppy, 16″x 16″ Snowdrift, oil on a brushed aluminum panel, 19″ x 19″, $1150 Grundarfjarðarbær, Western Iceland, Iceland Amoeba Flora Sundance in Summer, oil on linen, 32″ x 26″, $2900 Through the Glade, oil on brushed aluminum,15″ x 15″, $825 The Road Less Traveled, oil on canvas 36″ x 72″, $7800 Biba, Barbara Hulanicky Utah Skies, 15″ x 30″ oil on canvas, $1400 Dancing Pine, oil on canvas, 10″ x 12″, $425 “Off Trail PC”R, 13″ x 16”, oil on canvas, $600 “Sherwood Inverted”, 25″ x 37″, oil on steel, $3300 First Thaw, oil on canvas, 16″ x16″ framed. “First Snow”, 40″ x 40″, Oil on steel, $5600 Louise Bourgeois, Maman Wasatch Fog, oil on white aluminum, 23″ x 23″, $1700 Hope, by Robert Indiana in New York City.
