It was mid-afternoon, no one was there, and I wasn’t sure I was in the right place to go into Manhattan. A man approached and we started talking. He was “Solus” a street artist from Dublin Ireland who was in town to work with “The Bushwick Collective” on the murals in Brooklyn. This was a few years ago, before it became super popular. He was telling me about the murals he had planned for some walls in Manhattan and that he was invited to participate in “Art Basel” in Miami. At this point I thought he was telling some tall tales so when I got on the train I googled him. It was all true. I investigated the Bushwick Collective and my love of Street Art was born. Interpreting flowers in spray paint brings a modern edge to a traditional subject. The veils of color create softness and new colors, blending the edges and building a rich hue on the flat surface of the silver steel. In this piece, I experimented with masking, using cut out curves and edges to shield the panel while layering colors on top. “Grey Sky at the Beach”, 8″ x 8″, oil on wood panel, $200 “First Snow”, 40″ x 40″, Oil on steel, $5600 Snow Squalls, Provo Canyon, oil on aluminum panel, 39″ x 51″, $6900 Carmen, acrylic on steel, 39″ x 51″,$7250 Snæfellsjökull National Park, Snæfellsbær, Western Iceland, Iceland Pestilence arrives in NYC Hotel Elfonso XIII, Seville, 18 x 24″ oil on canvas “Midnight Ride”, oil on brushed aluminum, 39″ x 51″, $6900 “Going Home”, 13″ x 15″, oil on canvas, $725 Autumn Wind by Hung Liu, Crystal Bridges Silver Road, oil on aluminum, 39″ x 39″, Sold “Into the Storm”, 39″ x 51″, oil on steel, Sold “Ridgelines”, 40″ x 52″, oil paint on an aluminum panel, $6900 Entrance to the SCOPE Art Show, Miami Beach! “Matrix”, oil on brushed aluminum, 19″ x 15″, SOLD Golden Glow 2, oil on gold toned aluminum, 27″ x 27″ $2500 Sheffield Island, 24″ x 36″ Sold Clair McCardell, American, 1929-38, 1940-58 Ridgelines, oil on aluminum, 40″ x 52″, Sold Image Info Dimensions 640 × 217 Name shutterstock_545356708.jpeg Mime Type image/jpeg Type JPEG Size 37.89 KB
