I have many incredible memories of warm summers spent on the lakes of Upstate New York. We would watch as the storms progressed from the far side of the lake to our shore, taking cover on the porch or, if we were at the beach, sheltered in the car until it blew over. A contemporary abstract floral acrylic spray painting on metal panel by artist Cynthia McLoughlin — I became obsessed with Street Art on the platform of the LIRR. It was mid-afternoon, no one was there, and I wasn’t sure I was in the right place to go into Manhattan. A man approached and we started talking. He was “Solus” a street artist from Dublin Ireland who was in town to work with “The Bushwick Collective” on the murals in Brooklyn. This was a few years ago, before it became super popular. He was telling me about the murals he had planned for some walls in Manhattan and that he was invited to participate in “Art Basel” in Miami. At this point I thought he was telling some tall tales so when I got on the train I googled him. It was all true. I investigated the Bushwick Collective and my love of Street Art was born. Interpreting flowers in spray paint brings a modern edge to a traditional subject. The veils of color create softness and new colors, blending the edges and building a rich hue on the flat surface of the silver steel. In this piece, I experimented with masking, using cut out curves and edges to shield the panel while layering colors on top.

I love to travel and in March, 2019, I went in search of the Northern Lights. Iceland was the most amazing, desolate, and extreme climate which I have ever experienced. I now understand how a person could die from exposure. It was however, spectacularly beautiful, changeable and the light had this incredible blue cast, reflecting off the snow. This snow covered peak, with icy silver swirls over looks a frozen landscape with soft, blurred mountains on the horizon line was inspired by my experiences on that trip. — Spring Thaw, oil on a brushed aluminum panel, 39″ x 39″, $5300

Fiordland National Park in New Zealand is an otherworldly place of infinite beauty. I have never seen as many waterfalls in one place as when I visited there. I wanted to capture the ancient feeling I had when visiting this land that seemed untouched by human beings. The aerial view is a favorite of mine. I hope to convey the feeling of gliding through the air towards the "Silver Lake", with the water flowing all around. I scraped away the oil paint to expose the silvery reflection of the steel everywhere there is water. — “Silver Lake”, 39″ x 27″, Oil on steel, $3700

The crosswalk seems to melt while the traffic rushes by. Charred palm trees solemnly stand, observing the hazy twilight. Silver reflections dance across the wires and lights of this urban evening. Hopefully the pandemic has given us time to think about our own, personal legacy.

I used different sizes of brayers to lay down the initial indigo and abstract the mountains and roadside. The area in the upper right is sanded with steel wool to let the silver reflection show through, bringing reflective light as opposed to the clouds which are painted, splattered and dripped into place. I have many incredible memories of warm summers spent on the lakes of Upstate New York. We would watch as the storms progressed from the far side of the lake to our shore, taking cover on the porch or, if we were at the beach, sheltered in the car until it blew over. I have many incredible memories of warm summers spent on the lakes of Upstate New York. We would watch as the storms progressed from the far side of the lake to our shore, taking cover on the porch or, if we were at the beach, sheltered in the car until it blew over. A contemporary abstract floral acrylic spray painting on metal panel by artist Cynthia McLoughlin — I became obsessed with Street Art on the platform of the LIRR. It was mid-afternoon, no one was there, and I wasn’t sure I was in the right place to go into Manhattan. A man approached and we started talking. He was “Solus” a street artist from Dublin Ireland who was in town to work with “The Bushwick Collective” on the murals in Brooklyn. This was a few years ago, before it became super popular. He was telling me about the murals he had planned for some walls in Manhattan and that he was invited to participate in “Art Basel” in Miami. At this point I thought he was telling some tall tales so when I got on the train I googled him. It was all true. I investigated the Bushwick Collective and my love of Street Art was born. Interpreting flowers in spray paint brings a modern edge to a traditional subject. The veils of color create softness and new colors, blending the edges and building a rich hue on the flat surface of the silver steel. In this piece, I experimented with masking, using cut out curves and edges to shield the panel while layering colors on top.

Fiordland National Park in New Zealand is an otherworldly place of infinite beauty. I have never seen as many waterfalls in one place as when I visited there. I wanted to capture the ancient feeling I had when visiting this land that seemed untouched by human beings. The aerial view is a favorite of mine. I hope to convey the feeling of gliding through the air towards the "Silver Lake", with the water flowing all around. This painting was inspired by a photo from a friend who hiked Mt. Shasta, in California, seeking adventure. I spent about ten years in Westport, CT. Almost every day, I would head to Sherwood Island State Park, the oldest State Park in CT. It is a beautiful place and during the week, it doesn't get many visitors. It has a two lovely expansive, sand beaches on Long Island Sound, ruins of old farm houses, an orchard which must be from revolutionary times, wood and wetlands, (which make a wonderful bird sanctuary), and miles of paths to walk through it all. It is incredibly peaceful. A superstorm blew into Park City, Utah on February 18th, 2016. The temperature dropped twenty degrees in five minutes when the storm overtook our town. I was so captivated by the drama happening in the sky, I pulled my car over to the side of the road and took pictures of the event. I have worked a whole series of paintings around that event, experimenting with the clouds, developing my techniques, exposing the reflective silver of the panels by scraping, buffing, and simply leaving it as negative space. My work is difficult to capture in a photograph as the reflective light quality is lost in the transition to a digital format. A contemporary abstract floral acrylic spray painting on metal panel by artist Cynthia McLoughlin — I became obsessed with Street Art on the platform of the LIRR. It was mid-afternoon, no one was there, and I wasn’t sure I was in the right place to go into Manhattan. A man approached and we started talking. He was “Solus” a street artist from Dublin Ireland who was in town to work with “The Bushwick Collective” on the murals in Brooklyn. This was a few years ago, before it became super popular. He was telling me about the murals he had planned for some walls in Manhattan and that he was invited to participate in “Art Basel” in Miami. At this point I thought he was telling some tall tales so when I got on the train I googled him. It was all true. I investigated the Bushwick Collective and my love of Street Art was born. Interpreting flowers in spray paint brings a modern edge to a traditional subject. The veils of color create softness and new colors, blending the edges and building a rich hue on the flat surface of the silver steel. In this piece, I experimented with masking, using cut out curves and edges to shield the panel while layering colors on top.
