It was mid-afternoon, no one was there, and I wasn’t sure I was in the right place to go into Manhattan. A man approached and we started talking. He was “Solus” a street artist from Dublin Ireland who was in town to work with “The Bushwick Collective” on the murals in Brooklyn. This was a few years ago, before it became super popular. He was telling me about the murals he had planned for some walls in Manhattan and that he was invited to participate in “Art Basel” in Miami. At this point I thought he was telling some tall tales so when I got on the train I googled him. It was all true. I investigated the Bushwick Collective and my love of Street Art was born. Interpreting flowers in spray paint brings a modern edge to a traditional subject. The veils of color create softness and new colors, blending the edges and building a rich hue on the flat surface of the silver steel. In this piece, I experimented with masking, using cut out curves and edges to shield the panel while layering colors on top. “Ridgelines”, 40″ x 52″, oil paint on an aluminum panel, $6900 Early Morning Flight, Oil on an aluminum panel, 16x 16, $975 “Grey Sky at the Beach”, 8″ x 8″, oil on wood panel, $200 Ablaze, oil on brushed aluminum, 27 x 51, Sold “Spotlights”, oil on brushed aluminum, 19″ x 15″, SOLD Dancing Pine, oil on canvas, 10″ x 12″, $425 “Moonlight Reflections”, oil on brushed aluminum, 27″ x 27″, SOLD “Where There is Smoke, There is Fire” 16″ x 18″, oil on aluminum, $975. 3rd Floor Mural at China Bridge, Park City 2018 Ribbons of Blue, oil on brushed aluminum, 27″ x 27″, SOLD “Tuileries”, oil on linen, 24″ x 24″ $1700 Winter Beach #1, Oil on canvas, 14″ x 18″, $900 Late Afternoon, 48″ x 60″ “Tidal Pool”, 24″x24″, oil on linen, $1700 “Half Moon Bay”, 24″ x 24″,oil on linen, $1700 Trent Call’s Film Maker “Matrix”, oil on brushed aluminum, 19″ x 15″, SOLD Silvery Moon, Triptych, 48″ x 100″, oil on aluminum, Sold Georgiana, 10″ x 12″, oil on canvas, $400 Utah Skies, 15″ x 30″ oil on canvas, $1400 Big Red, acrylic on steel, 39″ x 51″, $7250 “Connor’s Ride” 14″ x 14″, oil on linen, $600 “Early Morning Road to JFK”, 16″ x 35″, oil on steel, Sold Spokes “Big Red”, 40″ x 52″, acrylic spray paint on steel, $7250 Wild Flower, 24″ x 36″ Crawling Under, oil on brushed aluminum, 19″ x 15″, $975 “Weeping Sky”, oil on aluminum, 51″ x 39″, Sold Sherwood Salt Marsh, 23″ x 29″, Oil on canvas, $1900, Contrasts, 12″ x 12″ Sold Clair McCardell, American, 1929-38, 1940-58 “Silver Snow” in a modern New Mexico retreat.
