It was mid-afternoon, no one was there, and I wasn’t sure I was in the right place to go into Manhattan. A man approached and we started talking. He was “Solus” a street artist from Dublin Ireland who was in town to work with “The Bushwick Collective” on the murals in Brooklyn. This was a few years ago, before it became super popular. He was telling me about the murals he had planned for some walls in Manhattan and that he was invited to participate in “Art Basel” in Miami. At this point I thought he was telling some tall tales so when I got on the train I googled him. It was all true. I investigated the Bushwick Collective and my love of Street Art was born. Interpreting flowers in spray paint brings a modern edge to a traditional subject. The veils of color create softness and new colors, blending the edges and building a rich hue on the flat surface of the silver steel. In this piece, I experimented with masking, using cut out curves and edges to shield the panel while layering colors on top. I really love the abstract quality of the shadow on the wall in this one. “Full Tilt”, 37″ x 39″, oil on aluminum, $5100 “Plaza Mayor”, 14″ x 14″ oil on canvas, $600 Snæfellsjökull National Park, Snæfellsbær, Western Iceland, Iceland “Heber Barn”, 14″ x 14″, oil on canvas, $600 Biba, Barbara Hulanicky Lakeside View Sand Island 18′ x 24″, oil on linen, $1300 “Moonlight Reflections”, oil on brushed aluminum, 27″ x 27″, SOLD California Sunshine “Beaver Creek Trail”, 21″ x 22″, oil on steel, $1400 “Sherwood Inverted”, 24″ x 36″, oil on steel, $2400 framed “Early Morning Road to JFK”, 16″ x 35″, oil on steel, Sold Shadow Woman – Patriot, oil on brushed aluminum, 27″ x 27″, $2250 Carmel by the Sea, Sunset Big Red, acrylic on steel, 39″ x 51″, $72500 “Full Tilt”, 37″ x 39″, oil on aluminum, $5100 On the Way Home, oil paint on a brushed aluminum panel, 27″ x 27″, SOLD Neon Rose, 36″ x 48″ unframed, Acrylic on steel, $350, California Trent Call’s Pussy Cat Mountain Triptych, panel 1 of 3, 24″ x 48″, Oil on aluminum Firestorm, oil on brushed aluminum, 27″ x 51″, Sold Image Info Dimensions 825 × 1,920 Name mountain-triptych-1-right-panel-oil-painting-brushed-aluminum-panel-24x30-1.jpg Mime Type image/jpeg Type JPG Size 357.68 KB
