It was mid-afternoon, no one was there, and I wasn’t sure I was in the right place to go into Manhattan. A man approached and we started talking. He was “Solus” a street artist from Dublin Ireland who was in town to work with “The Bushwick Collective” on the murals in Brooklyn. This was a few years ago, before it became super popular. He was telling me about the murals he had planned for some walls in Manhattan and that he was invited to participate in “Art Basel” in Miami. At this point I thought he was telling some tall tales so when I got on the train I googled him. It was all true. I investigated the Bushwick Collective and my love of Street Art was born. Interpreting flowers in spray paint brings a modern edge to a traditional subject. The veils of color create softness and new colors, blending the edges and building a rich hue on the flat surface of the silver steel. In this piece, I experimented with masking, using cut out curves and edges to shield the panel while layering colors on top. “Black Ice”, oil on aluminum, 24”x 24”, Sold “Wildflower Meadow”, 24″ x 36″, oil on steel, $500 framed “Full Tilt-Vertical”, Oil on brushed aluminum panel, 51″ x 39″, SOLD Desert Highway, oil on brushed aluminum, 27″ x 51″, Sold “Slide”, 23″ x 23″ oil on aluminum, Sold Lava Road, 36″ x 51″, oil on steel, $6400 Base painting on the easel. “Silver Lake” A work in progress in Cynthia’s studio. Cultures across the span of history have gravitated to the mountains for peace and clarity, as do I. Classic, amazing landscape. I love the distance and space created by all the light and dark thresholds. I will have to work this into my Road Noise series. “Silver Lining”, 41″ X 41″, oil on steel, Sold “Tidal Pool”, 24″x24″, oil on linen, $1700 Trent Call’s Coffee Guy Home from Deer Valley, 24″x24″ sold Through the Glade, oil on brushed aluminum,15″ x 15″, $825 Trent Call’s Skateboarder Misty Ridgeline, oil on brushed aluminum, 27″ x 27″ $2500 Image Info Dimensions 1,920 × 1,079 Date January 17, 2022 Camera iPhone X Aperture f⁄1 Focal Length 4 mm ISO 64 Shutter Speed 1⁄120 sec Name Mount-Timpanogos2-oil-on-brushed-aluminum-9822-x-51-16900.jpeg Mime Type image/jpeg Type JPEG Size 272.84 KB
