It was mid-afternoon, no one was there, and I wasn’t sure I was in the right place to go into Manhattan. A man approached and we started talking. He was “Solus” a street artist from Dublin Ireland who was in town to work with “The Bushwick Collective” on the murals in Brooklyn. This was a few years ago, before it became super popular. He was telling me about the murals he had planned for some walls in Manhattan and that he was invited to participate in “Art Basel” in Miami. At this point I thought he was telling some tall tales so when I got on the train I googled him. It was all true. I investigated the Bushwick Collective and my love of Street Art was born. Interpreting flowers in spray paint brings a modern edge to a traditional subject. The veils of color create softness and new colors, blending the edges and building a rich hue on the flat surface of the silver steel. In this piece, I experimented with masking, using cut out curves and edges to shield the panel while layering colors on top. “Salt Lake Sky”, 20″ x 30″, oil on linen, $1800 The Sound of Twilight, (Diptych panel), oil on aluminum, 19 x 51,(each panel), (46″ x 51′ side by side), Sold “Big Red”, 39″ x 51″, acrylic spray paint on steel, $7250 Sundance in Summer, oil on linen, 32″ x 26″, $2900 Mountain Triptych, panel 1 of 3, 24″ x 48″, Oil on aluminum “First Snow”, 40″x 40″, oil on aluminum, $5600 Trent Call’s Skateboarder Shadow Woman – Patriot, oil on brushed aluminum, 27″ x 27″, $2250 Base painting on the easel. “First Snow”, 40″ x 40″, Oil on steel, $5600 Agnes Drecoll, French 1931-63 Golden Glow 2, oil on gold toned aluminum, 27″ x 27″ $2500 “Silver Falls”, 40″x 40″, Oil on steel, Sold Stillness in Motion, Oil on white aluminum panel, 51″ x 51″, “Silver Lake” A work in progress in Cynthia’s studio. “Silver Meadow”, 24″ x 36″, oil on steel, $2600 Kings Highway North, Oil on steel, 40″ x 30″, $3600 Playful Orange, 36″ x 48″ “Ridgelines”, 40″ x 52″, oil paint on an aluminum panel, $6900 “Lava Fields”, 38″ x 50″, Oil on Steel, Sold Silver Road, oil on aluminum, 39″ x 39″, Sold Dancing Sky, oil on brushed aluminum panel, 29 x 29, $2750. “Slide”, 23″ x 23″ oil on aluminum, Sold Spirits Sandy Hook Memorial, acrylic spray paint on steel, 39″ x 51″.
