It was mid-afternoon, no one was there, and I wasn’t sure I was in the right place to go into Manhattan. A man approached and we started talking. He was “Solus” a street artist from Dublin Ireland who was in town to work with “The Bushwick Collective” on the murals in Brooklyn. This was a few years ago, before it became super popular. He was telling me about the murals he had planned for some walls in Manhattan and that he was invited to participate in “Art Basel” in Miami. At this point I thought he was telling some tall tales so when I got on the train I googled him. It was all true. I investigated the Bushwick Collective and my love of Street Art was born. Interpreting flowers in spray paint brings a modern edge to a traditional subject. The veils of color create softness and new colors, blending the edges and building a rich hue on the flat surface of the silver steel. In this piece, I experimented with masking, using cut out curves and edges to shield the panel while layering colors on top. “Vertigo”, 24″ x 36″, oil on steel, Sold Carmel by the Sea, 27″ x 27″, oil paint on a brushed aluminum panel, $2500 Icy View from Saugatuck Bridge Ridgelines, oil on aluminum, 40″ x 52″, Sold “First Snow”, 40″ x 40″, Oil on steel, $5600 “Sherwood Inverted”, 24″ x 36″, oil on steel, $2400 framed “Sunrise on the Wasatch Mountains” 19″ x 34″ Mountain Triptych, panel 3 of 3, 24″ x 48″, Oil on aluminum Trent Call’s Film Maker “Connor’s Ride” 14″ x 14″, oil on linen, $600 “Plaza Mayor”, 14″ x 14″ oil on canvas, $600 Looking into the Chaos, oil on aluminum, 27 x 27, $2500 Back Porch View, Tannery Road, oil on canvas, 18″ x 20″, $1100 A Giant’s View, 24″ x 36″ “Weeping Sky”, oil on aluminum, 51″ x 39″, Sold Moth-flower Aglow “Skating on the Bridge”, 51″ x 51″, oil on aluminum panel, Sold “Aerial Blush”, oil on aluminum, 15″ x 19″, $975 Manley Beach, Australia Mountain Triptych, all panels, 48″ x 96″, Oil on aluminum, $7400 Kaleidoscope, oil on aluminum panel, 39″ x 39″, $5300 Lauren’s Rose, 38″ x 48″,Acrylic on recycled, distressed board, $6400, “Matrix”, oil on brushed aluminum, 19″ x 15″, SOLD Wasatch Fog, oil on white aluminum, 23″ x 23″, $1700 “Silver Lake”, 39″ x 27″, Oil on steel, $3700 Snakes and Snails Southold Beach, 20″ x 20, $1400 Back Porch View, Tannery Road, oil on canvas, 18″ x 20″, $1100 Miami Art Show at the Eduardo Lira Art Gallery2075 NW 2nd Ave, Miami, FL 33127 “Metamorphosis” $7000, in a Park City boudoir. “Full Tilt-Vertical”, Oil on brushed aluminum panel, 51″ x 39″, SOLD Wild Flower, 24″ x 36″ “Silver Snow”, 39″ x 51″, Oil on steel, Sold “Fairy Flower”, 36″ x 48″, acrylic on canvas, $7300 Through the Glade, oil on brushed aluminum,15″ x 15″, $825 Mindfulness Delphinium, $7250, in a NYC apartment. “Half Moon Bay”, 24″ x 24″,oil on linen, $1700 Lava Road, 36″ x 51″, oil on steel, $6400 “Summer Storm”, 15.5″ x 19.5″, etching ink on paper, $975 Summer Storm, 24″ x 36″ unframed, Oil on canvas, Sold Pestilence arrives in NYC “Grey Sky at the Beach”, 8″ x 8″, oil on wood panel, $200 Silver Road, oil on aluminum, 39″ x 39″, Sold Twisted Web, oil on brushed aluminum, 19″ x 15″, $975 “Sherwood Inverted”, 24″ x 36″, oil on steel, $2400 framed Elizabeth Hawes, American 1928-40 “Sky Scrapers”, oil on brushed aluminum, 19″ x 15″, $975 Surreal Wave, oil on brushed aluminum, 19″ x 15″, $975 Dancing Pine, 10″ x 12″, oil on canvas, $400 Violet Iris, acrylic spray paint on steel, 39″ x 51″, Sold Red Sky at Night #2, oil paint on a brushed aluminum panel, 27″ x 27″, SOLD Trent Call’s Skateboarder Lauren’s Rose, 38″ x 46″ Golden Glow 1, oil on gold toned aluminum, 27 x 27, $2500 Bleeding Poppy, 16″x 16″ Accobonac Harbor, 18″ x 24″, oil on line, $1300 Amazon Burning, oil on brushed aluminum, 27 x 27″, $2250 Porthos, oil paint on a brushed aluminum panel, 15″ x 15″, $800 Transcendental Dreams, oil on aluminum, 39” x 27”, $3600 per panel. “Crevice”, oil on aluminum, 40″ x 52″, $6900 Carmen and me at the Stricoff Gallery during Armory Show Week in 2018.
