It was mid-afternoon, no one was there, and I wasn’t sure I was in the right place to go into Manhattan. A man approached and we started talking. He was “Solus” a street artist from Dublin Ireland who was in town to work with “The Bushwick Collective” on the murals in Brooklyn. This was a few years ago, before it became super popular. He was telling me about the murals he had planned for some walls in Manhattan and that he was invited to participate in “Art Basel” in Miami. At this point I thought he was telling some tall tales so when I got on the train I googled him. It was all true. I investigated the Bushwick Collective and my love of Street Art was born. Interpreting flowers in spray paint brings a modern edge to a traditional subject. The veils of color create softness and new colors, blending the edges and building a rich hue on the flat surface of the silver steel. In this piece, I experimented with masking, using cut out curves and edges to shield the panel while layering colors on top. “Pony Marsh”, 12″ x 12″, oil on canvas, Sold Vortex “Skating on the Bridge”, 51″ x 51″, oil on aluminum panel, Sold Eya- og Miklaholtshreppur, Western Iceland LA Sky, 27″ x 27″, oil paint on a brushed aluminum panel, $2250 Summer Storm, 24″ x 36″ unframed, Oil on canvas, Sold “Spotlights”, oil on brushed aluminum, 19″ x 15″, SOLD Twilight 48th Street, oil on canvas, 18″ x 24″, $1300 The Road Less Traveled, oil on canvas 36″ x 72″, $7800 “Grey Sky at the Beach”, 8″ x 8″, oil on wood panel, $200 “Connor’s Ride” 14″ x 14″, oil on linen, $600 Sherwood Island, Winter Beach, oil on canvas, 18″ x 18″,$1100 “Calm Before the Storm”, oil on aluminum, 17″ x 19″, $1000 Vines above Lauren’s Rose, 38″ x 48″,Acrylic on recycled, distressed board, $6400, Devils Den, 25″ x 29″ oil on natural linen, $2500 Image Info Dimensions 1,920 × 1,200 Date September 30, 2023 Name In-the-Moment-in-a-room-1-oil-on-brushed-aluminum-panel-5122-x-6322-12500-1.jpg Mime Type image/jpeg Type JPG Size 580.09 KB
