It was mid-afternoon, no one was there, and I wasn’t sure I was in the right place to go into Manhattan. A man approached and we started talking. He was “Solus” a street artist from Dublin Ireland who was in town to work with “The Bushwick Collective” on the murals in Brooklyn. This was a few years ago, before it became super popular. He was telling me about the murals he had planned for some walls in Manhattan and that he was invited to participate in “Art Basel” in Miami. At this point I thought he was telling some tall tales so when I got on the train I googled him. It was all true. I investigated the Bushwick Collective and my love of Street Art was born. Interpreting flowers in spray paint brings a modern edge to a traditional subject. The veils of color create softness and new colors, blending the edges and building a rich hue on the flat surface of the silver steel. In this piece, I experimented with masking, using cut out curves and edges to shield the panel while layering colors on top. “Tidal Pool”, 24″x24″, oil on linen, $1700 Surreal Wave, oil on brushed aluminum, 19″ x 15″, $975 Twisted Web, oil on brushed aluminum, 19″ x 15″, $975 “Skating on the Bridge”, 51″ x 51″, oil on aluminum panel, Sold “Midnight Ride”, oil on brushed aluminum, 39″ x 51″, $6900 Malieficent Metamorphosis Sand Island 18′ x 24″, oil on linen, $1300 “Salt Lake Sky”, 20″ x 30″, oil on linen, $1800 Transcendental Dreams, oil on aluminum, 39” x 27”, $3600 per panel. “Salt Lake Sky”, 20″ x 30″, oil on linen, $1800 Whitecaps, oil on brushed aluminum 19″ x 15″, $975 No Boundaries, oil on aluminum, 27″ x 27″, $2500 Twilight’s Embrace, oil on brushed aluminum panel, 27”x 27”, $2750 “Whispers”, oil on aluminum, 39″ x 51″, $6900 Wild Flower, 24″ x 36″ California Sunshine “Shady Stars”, 21″ x 21″, acrylic spray paint on steel, Sold Midway, 16″ x 20″ Oil on canvas. “Aerial Blush”, oil on aluminum, 15″ x 19″, $975 Rugged Grandeur, oil on brushed aluminum, 15″ x19″ “Going Home”, 13″ x 15″, oil on canvas, $725 Desert Highway, oil on brushed aluminum, 27″ x 51″, Sold Shine On, 19″ x 38″, oil paint on a brushed aluminum panel, $2200 Pillars in the Northern Sky, oil on brushed aluminum panel, 29 x 29, $2750.
