He was telling me about the murals he had planned for some walls in Manhattan and that he was invited to participate in “Art Basel” in Miami. At this point I thought he was telling some tall tales so when I got on the train I googled him. It was all true. I investigated the Bushwick Collective and my love of Street Art was born. Interpreting flowers in spray paint brings a modern edge to a traditional subject. The veils of color create softness and new colors, blending the edges and building a rich hue on the flat surface of the silver steel. In this piece, I experimented with masking, using cut out curves and edges to shield the panel while layering colors on top. “Full Tilt”, 37″ x 39″, oil on aluminum, $5100 “Half Moon Bay”, 24″ x 24″,oil on linen, $1700 “Devil’s Den”, 30″ x 34″, oil on natural linen, $3000 “Midnight Ride”, oil on brushed aluminum, 39″ x 51″, $6900 “Silver Ridgelines”, 38’x 39″, oil on aluminum, Sold “Slide”, 23″ x 23″ oil on aluminum, Sold “Blue Horizon”, oil on aluminum, 19″ x 15″ $975 Biba, Barbara Hulanicky Through the Glade, oil on brushed aluminum,15″ x 15″, $825 Floating Flora “Weeping Sky”, oil on aluminum, 51″ x 39″, Sold “Silver Meadow”, 24″ x 36″, oil on steel, $2600 The Road Less Traveled, oil on canvas 36″ x 72″, $7800 “First Snow”, 40″ x 40″, Oil on steel, $5600 Big Red, acrylic on steel, 39″ x 51″, $72500 “Tropical Red”, 21″x 21″ acrylic spray paint on steel, Sold “Silver Lake” A work in progress in Cynthia’s studio. “Red Sky at Night”, 24″ x 24″, oil on linen, $1700 Bleeding Poppy, 16″x 16″ “Metamorphosis”, acrylic spray paint on steel, 39″ x 51″, $6000 “First Snow”, 40″x 40″, oil on aluminum, $5600 Sherwood Island, Winter Beach, oil on canvas, 18″ x 18″,$1100 Moonbeams, oil on brushed aluminum panel, 19″ x 15″, $975 Train to Seville, 18 x 24, oil on linen “Grounded”, oil on brushed aluminum, 19″ x 15″, SOLD “Metamorphosis”, acrylic spray paint on steel, 39″ x 51″, $6000 Silver Road, oil on aluminum, 39″ x 39″, $5300 Athos, oil paint on a brushed aluminum panel, 15″ x 15″, $800 “Heber Barn”, 14″ x 14″, oil on canvas, $600 Carmel by the Sea, 27″ x 27″, oil paint on a brushed aluminum panel, $2500 “Connor’s Ride” 14″ x 14″, oil on linen, $600 Neon Rose, 36″ x 48″ unframed, Acrylic on steel, $350, California Stillness in Motion, Oil on white aluminum panel, 51″ x 51″, “Skating on the Bridge”, 51″ x 51″, oil on aluminum panel, Sold “Vertigo 2”, 30 x 60, metalic acrylic, mixed medium on canvas, $6300 “Silver Falls”, 40″x 40″, Oil on steel, Sold “Vertigo”, 24″ x 36″, oil on steel, Sold “Going Home”, 13″ x 15″, oil on canvas, $725 “Aqua Shots”, 21″x 21″, acrylic spray paint on steel, Sold Sherwood Island, Winter Beach, oil on canvas, 18″ x 18″,$1100 Westport, oil on canvas, 12″ x 12″, $400 “Carmen”, 39″ x 51″, acrylic spray paint on steel, $7250 Silver Road, oil on aluminum, 39″ x 39″, Sold Entrance to the SCOPE Art Show, Miami Beach! I became obsessed with Street Art on the platform of the LIRR. It was mid-afternoon, no one was there, and I wasn’t sure I was in the right place to go into Manhattan. A man approached and we started talking. He was “Solus” a street artist from Dublin Ireland who was in town to work with “The Bushwick Collective” on the murals in Brooklyn. This was a few years ago, before it became super popular.
