It was mid-afternoon, no one was there, and I wasn’t sure I was in the right place to go into Manhattan. A man approached and we started talking. He was “Solus” a street artist from Dublin Ireland who was in town to work with “The Bushwick Collective” on the murals in Brooklyn. This was a few years ago, before it became super popular. He was telling me about the murals he had planned for some walls in Manhattan and that he was invited to participate in “Art Basel” in Miami. At this point I thought he was telling some tall tales so when I got on the train I googled him. It was all true. I investigated the Bushwick Collective and my love of Street Art was born. Interpreting flowers in spray paint brings a modern edge to a traditional subject. The veils of color create softness and new colors, blending the edges and building a rich hue on the flat surface of the silver steel. In this piece, I experimented with masking, using cut out curves and edges to shield the panel while layering colors on top. “Midnight Ride”, oil on brushed aluminum, 39″ x 51″, $6900 Chasing Waterfalls, detail 3, oil on brushed aluminum, 51” x 39” Open Wide and say Ahhhh Firestorm, oil on brushed aluminum, 27″ x 51″, Sold Temple Lily “Half Moon Bay”, 24″ x 24″,oil on linen, $1700 Whitecaps, oil on brushed aluminum 19″ x 15″, $975 Cliffs of Carmel, oil on linen, 20″ x 20″, $1200 “Silver Falls”, 40″x 40″, Oil on steel, Sold Lava Road, 36″ x 51″ Oil on steel, $5500 The Road Less Traveled, oil on canvas 36″ x 72″, $7800 Back Porch View, Tannery Road, oil on canvas, 18″ x 20″, $1100 Summer Storm/Summer Storm Shadow $900 each, &Big Red, $7250, in a NYC apartment. “Acid Test”, oil on brushed aluminum, 15″ x 15″, $800 “Perfect Storm”, the inspirational photo for the series. “Silver Lining”, 41″ X 41″, oil on steel, Sold Morning Fog Kaleidoscope, oil on aluminum panel, 39″ x 39″, $5300 “Weeping Sky”, oil on aluminum, 51″ x 39″, Sold “Vertigo 2”, 30 x 60, metalic acrylic, mixed medium on canvas, $6300 Silver Beach, 12″ x 16″, oil paint on a brushed aluminum panel, $975 Hotel Elfonso XIII, Seville, 18 x 24″ oil on canvas Vortex Georgiana, 10″ x 12″, oil on canvas, $400 Accobonac Harbor, 18″ x 24″, oil on line, $1300 Silver Horizon, oil on aluminum,15″ x 19″, Sold Moon over the NJ Shore #1 Train to Seville, framed, Oil on canvas, 12″ x 14″ $550 Earth Day after clean up, after!
