It was mid-afternoon, no one was there, and I wasn’t sure I was in the right place to go into Manhattan. A man approached and we started talking. He was “Solus” a street artist from Dublin Ireland who was in town to work with “The Bushwick Collective” on the murals in Brooklyn. This was a few years ago, before it became super popular. He was telling me about the murals he had planned for some walls in Manhattan and that he was invited to participate in “Art Basel” in Miami. At this point I thought he was telling some tall tales so when I got on the train I googled him. It was all true. I investigated the Bushwick Collective and my love of Street Art was born. Interpreting flowers in spray paint brings a modern edge to a traditional subject. The veils of color create softness and new colors, blending the edges and building a rich hue on the flat surface of the silver steel. In this piece, I experimented with masking, using cut out curves and edges to shield the panel while layering colors on top. “Half Moon Bay”, 24″ x 24″,oil on linen, $1700 “Salt Lake Sky”, 20″ x 30″, oil on linen, $1800 “Half Moon Bay”, 24″ x 24″,oil on linen, $1700 Lava Road, 36″ x 51″ Oil on steel, $5500 Going Up “Frost”, oil on aluminum, 19″ x 15″, $975 Whitecaps, oil on brushed aluminum 19″ x 15″, $975 “Tropical Red”, 21″x 21″ acrylic spray paint on steel, Sold View From The Shed, 20″ x 24″ + frame, Sold Sean Kelly Gallery, NYC Dancing Pine, 10″ x 12″, oil on canvas, $400 Silver Horizon, oil on aluminum,15″ x 19″, Sold Beautiful arial shot of Miami Beach, Florida Early Morning Flight, Oil on an aluminum panel, 16x 16, $975 “Carmen”, 40″ x 52″, acrylic spray paint on steel, $7250 Open Wide and say Ahhhh Temple Lily Trent Call’s Film Maker Earth Day Clean Up, before… Hungry Peonies Devouring Berries Inside the Eduardo Lira Art Gallery for the Miami 2.0 Artbox Show 2019!
