I became obsessed with Street Art on the platform of the LIRR. It was mid-afternoon, no one was there, and I wasn’t sure I was in the right place to go into Manhattan. A man approached and we started talking. He was “Solus” a street artist from Dublin Ireland who was in town to work with “The Bushwick Collective” on the murals in Brooklyn. This was a few years ago, before it became super popular. He was telling me about the murals he had planned for some walls in Manhattan and that he was invited to participate in “Art Basel” in Miami. At this point I thought he was telling some tall tales so when I got on the train I googled him. It was all true. I investigated the Bushwick Collective and my love of Street Art was born. Interpreting flowers in spray paint brings a modern edge to a traditional subject. The veils of color create softness and new colors, blending the edges and building a rich hue on the flat surface of the silver steel. In this piece, I experimented with masking, using cut out curves and edges to shield the panel while layering colors on top. “Early Morning Road to JFK”, 16″ x 35″, oil on steel, Sold Off Trail in Park City, Oil on canvas, 13″ x 16″ , $700 Winter Beach #2, Oil on canvas, 14″ x 18″, $900 Celestial Rhapsody, oil on a brushed aluminum panel, 99″ x 51″, Sold Utah Skies, 15″ x 30″ oil on canvas, $1400 “Devil’s Den”, 30″ x 34″, oil on natural linen, $3000 “Matrix”, oil on brushed aluminum, 19″ x 15″, SOLD Summer Storm Shadow, 15.5″ x 19.5″ etching ink on paper, $975 Athos, oil paint on a brushed aluminum panel, 15″ x 15″, $800 Snæfellsjökull National Park, Snæfellsbær, Western Iceland, Iceland Porthos, oil paint on a brushed aluminum panel, 15″ x 15″, $800 Overton’s “Switchbacks” , oil on brushed aluminum, 40″ x 40″, $5600 Japanese Maples, oil on linen, 23″ x 23″, $1600 “Wildflower Meadow”, 24″ x 36″, oil on steel, $500 framed Red Sky at Night #2, oil paint on a brushed aluminum panel, 27″ x 27″, SOLD Golden Glow 1, oil on gold toned aluminum, 27 x 27, $2500 Fairfield Beach, 24″x 36″, oil on steel, sold Desert Highway, oil on brushed aluminum, 27″ x 51″, Sold “Aerial Blush”, oil on aluminum, 15″ x 19″, $975 Icy Twilight, Oil paint on brushed aluminum, 16″ x 16″,$975 “Silver Meadow”, 24″ x 36″, oil on steel, $2600 Neon Rose, 36″ x 48″ unframed, Acrylic on steel, $350, California Classic, amazing landscape.
