I became obsessed with Street Art on the platform of the LIRR. It was mid-afternoon, no one was there, and I wasn’t sure I was in the right place to go into Manhattan. A man approached and we started talking. He was “Solus” a street artist from Dublin Ireland who was in town to work with “The Bushwick Collective” on the murals in Brooklyn. This was a few years ago, before it became super popular. He was telling me about the murals he had planned for some walls in Manhattan and that he was invited to participate in “Art Basel” in Miami. At this point I thought he was telling some tall tales so when I got on the train I googled him. It was all true. I investigated the Bushwick Collective and my love of Street Art was born. Interpreting flowers in spray paint brings a modern edge to a traditional subject. The veils of color create softness and new colors, blending the edges and building a rich hue on the flat surface of the silver steel. In this piece, I experimented with masking, using cut out curves and edges to shield the panel while layering colors on top. “Into the Storm”, 39″ x 51″, oil on steel, Sold Summer Storm/Summer Storm Shadow $900 each, &Big Red, $7250, in a NYC apartment. Moon over the NJ Shore #3 “Connor’s Ride”, 12 x 12, oil on linen, $600 I became obsessed with Street Art on the platform of the LIRR. “Metamorphosis”, acrylic spray paint on steel, 39″ x 51″, $6000 Crawling Under, oil on brushed aluminum, 19″ x 15″, $975 Overton’s, 24″ x 36″, Oil on aluminum Golden Glow 2, oil on gold toned aluminum, 27″ x 27″ $2500 “Beaver Creek Trail”, 21″ x 22″, oil on steel, $1400 Rugged Grandeur, oil on brushed aluminum, 15″ x19″ Train to Seville, framed, Oil on canvas, 12″ x 14″ $550 Transcendental Dreams, oil on aluminum, 39” x 27”, $3600 per panel. “Pony Marsh #2, 11” x 14″+ frame, Sold Sherwood Salt Marsh, 23″ x 29″, Oil on canvas, $1900, Mountain Triptych, panel 2 of 3, 24″ x 48″, Oil on aluminum, $7000 A Giant’s View, 24″ x 36″ “Big Red”, 40″ x 52″, acrylic spray paint on steel, $7250 Silver Beach, 12″ x 16″, oil paint on a brushed aluminum panel, $975 Tannery Row, 8″ x 8″ unframed, oil on canvas, $225, Utah Moonlight on the Sound, oil on steel, 35 x 38, $2900 Cynthia & Tom 2019 Sundance in Summer, oil on linen, 32″ x 26″, $2900 Delphinium, vertical, acrylic spray paint, 39″ x 51″, $7250 Chasing Waterfalls, detail 3, oil on brushed aluminum, 51” x 39” Moth Eaten Bachelor Buttons Carmen and me at the Stricoff Gallery during Armory Show Week in 2018.
