It was mid-afternoon, no one was there, and I wasn’t sure I was in the right place to go into Manhattan. A man approached and we started talking. He was “Solus” a street artist from Dublin Ireland who was in town to work with “The Bushwick Collective” on the murals in Brooklyn. This was a few years ago, before it became super popular. He was telling me about the murals he had planned for some walls in Manhattan and that he was invited to participate in “Art Basel” in Miami. At this point I thought he was telling some tall tales so when I got on the train I googled him. It was all true. I investigated the Bushwick Collective and my love of Street Art was born. Interpreting flowers in spray paint brings a modern edge to a traditional subject. The veils of color create softness and new colors, blending the edges and building a rich hue on the flat surface of the silver steel. In this piece, I experimented with masking, using cut out curves and edges to shield the panel while layering colors on top. “Silver Falls”, 40″x 40″, Oil on steel, Sold “Day is Done”, oil on brushed aluminum, 15″ x 19″, $975 “Sherwood Inverted”, 25″ x 37″, oil on steel, $3300 Mountain Triptych, panel 3 of 3, 24″ x 48″, Oil on aluminum Whitecaps, oil on brushed aluminum 19″ x 15″, $975 Wasatch Back, oil on brushed aluminum, 27″ x 51″, Sold Sundance in Summer, oil on linen, 32″ x 26″, $2900 Surreal Monster Flowers View From Partrick Bridge, 24″ x 36″ Sold Moth Eaten Bachelor Buttons Vines above Trent Call’s Skateboarder Twilight 48th Street, oil on canvas, 18″ x 24″, $1300 Marie Cutoli -French Trent Call’s Couple out on the Town Open Wide and say Ahhhh “Pony Marsh”, 12″ x 12″, oil on canvas, Sold “Weeping Sky”, oil on aluminum, 51″ x 39″, Sold “Fairy Flower”, 36″ x 48″, acrylic on canvas, $7300 Grandeur, oil on a brushed aluminum panel, 39″ x 51″, Sold Summer Storm/Summer Storm Shadow $900 each, &Big Red, $7250, in a NYC apartment.
