I became obsessed with Street Art on the platform of the LIRR. It was mid-afternoon, no one was there, and I wasn’t sure I was in the right place to go into Manhattan. A man approached and we started talking. He was “Solus” a street artist from Dublin Ireland who was in town to work with “The Bushwick Collective” on the murals in Brooklyn. This was a few years ago, before it became super popular. He was telling me about the murals he had planned for some walls in Manhattan and that he was invited to participate in “Art Basel” in Miami. At this point I thought he was telling some tall tales so when I got on the train I googled him. It was all true. I investigated the Bushwick Collective and my love of Street Art was born. Interpreting flowers in spray paint brings a modern edge to a traditional subject. The veils of color create softness and new colors, blending the edges and building a rich hue on the flat surface of the silver steel. In this piece, I experimented with masking, using cut out curves and edges to shield the panel while layering colors on top. “Tidal Pool”, 24″x24″, oil on linen, $1700 “Connor’s Ride”, 12 x 12, oil on linen, $600 Georgiana, 10″ x 12″, oil on canvas, $400 Crawling Under, oil on brushed aluminum, 19″ x 15″, $975 Golden Glow 2, oil on gold toned aluminum, 27″ x 27″ $2500 “Delphinium”, acrylic spray paint on steel, 51″x 39″, $7250 Fairfield Beach, 24″x 36″, oil on steel, sold Whitecaps, oil on brushed aluminum 19″ x 15″, $975 “Fairy Flower”, 36″ x 48″, acrylic on canvas, $7300 “Black Ice”, oil on aluminum, 24”x 24”, Sold “Where There is Smoke, There is Fire” 16″ x 18″, oil on aluminum, $975. “Into the Storm”, 39″ x 51″, oil on steel, Sold “Acid Test”, oil on brushed aluminum, 15″ x 15″, $800 “Beaver Creek Trail”, 21″ x 22″, oil on steel, $1400 Lauren’s Rose, 38″ x 46″ Big Red, $7250, Tidal Pools, $2750 in a NYC apartment. “Wildflower Meadow”, 24″ x 36″, oil on steel, $500 framed “Sherwood Inverted”, 25″ x 37″, oil on steel, $3300 Moon over the NJ Shore #1 Back Porch View, Tannery Road, oil on canvas, 18″ x 20″, $1100 Summer Storm Shadow, 15.5″ x 19.5″ etching ink on paper, $975 “Switchbacks” , oil on brushed aluminum, 40″ x 40″, $5600 “Channeling Blue over Grey””, oil on brushed aluminum, 19″ x 15″, SOLD Moth Eaten Bachelor Buttons September, 39 x 51, oil on brushed aluminum panel, $6900 Shine On, 19″ x 38″, oil paint on a brushed aluminum panel, $2200 “Full Tilt”, 37″ x 39″, oil on aluminum, $5100 Home from Deer Valley, 24″x24″ sold Moon Shadow, oil on a brushed aluminum panel, 51″ x 51″, Sold Temple Lily Clair McCardell, American, 1929-38, 1940-58 Frost, oil on aluminum, 19″ x 15″, $975 “Silvery Moon” Triptych, 48″ x 100″ appx, oil on aluminum, Sold Through the Storm, oil on brushed aluminum panel, 51 x 63 $10,500 “Devil’s Den”, 30″ x 34″, oil on natural linen, $3000 “Slide”, 23″ x 23″ oil on aluminum, Sold “Ridgelines”, 40” x 52″, oil on aluminum, $7300 Mindfulness Underpass, Into the Light, oil on brushed aluminum. 39″ x 39″, $5300 Ribbons of Blue, oil on brushed aluminum, 27″ x 27″, SOLD Overton’s Sand Island 18′ x 24″, oil on linen, $1300 Under Construction.
