It was mid-afternoon, no one was there, and I wasn’t sure I was in the right place to go into Manhattan. A man approached and we started talking. He was “Solus” a street artist from Dublin Ireland who was in town to work with “The Bushwick Collective” on the murals in Brooklyn. This was a few years ago, before it became super popular. He was telling me about the murals he had planned for some walls in Manhattan and that he was invited to participate in “Art Basel” in Miami. At this point I thought he was telling some tall tales so when I got on the train I googled him. It was all true. I investigated the Bushwick Collective and my love of Street Art was born. Interpreting flowers in spray paint brings a modern edge to a traditional subject. The veils of color create softness and new colors, blending the edges and building a rich hue on the flat surface of the silver steel. In this piece, I experimented with masking, using cut out curves and edges to shield the panel while layering colors on top. “Delphinium”, acrylic spray paint on steel, 51″x 39″, $7250 Bleeding Poppy, 16″x 16″ Mouth of the Gorge, Dart River, New Zealand Georgiana, 10″ x 12″, oil on canvas, $400 3rd Floor Mural at China Bridge, Park City 2018 Solar Reveal, 42″ x 54″ oil on steel, Sold Moon over the NJ Shore #3 Icy View from Saugatuck Bridge “Full Tilt”, 37″ x 39″, oil on aluminum, $5100 Silver Beach, 12″ x 16″, oil paint on a brushed aluminum panel, $975 “Off Trail PC”R, 13″ x 16”, oil on canvas, $600 “Full Tilt”, 37″ x 39″, oil on aluminum, $5100 Frost, oil on aluminum, 19″ x 15″, $975 Treasure Hollow, oil on brushed aluminum, 27″ x 33″,$2900 Wild Flower, 24″ x 36″ Tannery Row, 8″ x 8″ unframed, oil on canvas, $225, Utah “Early Morning Road to JFK”, 16″ x 35″, oil on steel, Sold Twilight 48th Street, oil on canvas, 18″ x 24″, $1300 “Calm Before the Storm”, oil on aluminum, 17″ x 19″, $1000 Image Info Dimensions 800 × 600 Name Image-12-3-19-at-7.56-AM-1.jpg Mime Type image/jpeg Type JPG Size 120.30 KB
