It was mid-afternoon, no one was there, and I wasn’t sure I was in the right place to go into Manhattan. A man approached and we started talking. He was “Solus” a street artist from Dublin Ireland who was in town to work with “The Bushwick Collective” on the murals in Brooklyn. This was a few years ago, before it became super popular. He was telling me about the murals he had planned for some walls in Manhattan and that he was invited to participate in “Art Basel” in Miami. At this point I thought he was telling some tall tales so when I got on the train I googled him. It was all true. I investigated the Bushwick Collective and my love of Street Art was born. Interpreting flowers in spray paint brings a modern edge to a traditional subject. The veils of color create softness and new colors, blending the edges and building a rich hue on the flat surface of the silver steel. In this piece, I experimented with masking, using cut out curves and edges to shield the panel while layering colors on top. “Acid Test”, oil on brushed aluminum, 15″ x 15″, $800 Murdock Peak – Altitude, 9602’ “Indigo Rain”, oil on brushed aluminum, 15″ x 19″, Sold Base painting for a cityscape idea. “Full Tilt-Vertical”, Oil on brushed aluminum panel, 51″ x 39″, SOLD Silver Beach, 12″ x 16″, oil paint on a brushed aluminum panel, $975 3rd Floor Mural at China Bridge, Park City 2018 Crawling Under, oil on brushed aluminum, 19″ x 15″, $975 “Day is Done”, oil on brushed aluminum, 15″ x 19″, $975 “Early Morning Road to JFK”, 16″ x 35″, oil on steel, Sold Neon Rose, 36″ x 48″ unframed, Acrylic on steel, $350, California “Midnight Ride”, oil on brushed aluminum, 51″ x 39″, $6900 Late Afternoon, 48″ x 60″ “Midnight Ride”, oil on brushed aluminum, 39″ x 51″, $6900 Red Truck, (in progress), 27 x 33, oil on brushed aluminum, $3100 Image Info Dimensions 1,658 × 1,920 Name fullsizeoutput_27e8.jpeg Mime Type image/jpeg Type JPEG Size 204.39 KB
