Inside SCOPE Miami Beach, 2019 Art Show! I became obsessed with Street Art on the platform of the LIRR. It was mid-afternoon, no one was there, and I wasn’t sure I was in the right place to go into Manhattan. A man approached and we started talking. He was “Solus” a street artist from Dublin Ireland who was in town to work with “The Bushwick Collective” on the murals in Brooklyn. This was a few years ago, before it became super popular. He was telling me about the murals he had planned for some walls in Manhattan and that he was invited to participate in “Art Basel” in Miami. At this point I thought he was telling some tall tales so when I got on the train I googled him. It was all true. I investigated the Bushwick Collective and my love of Street Art was born. Interpreting flowers in spray paint brings a modern edge to a traditional subject. The veils of color create softness and new colors, blending the edges and building a rich hue on the flat surface of the silver steel. In this piece, I experimented with masking, using cut out curves and edges to shield the panel while layering colors on top. “Summer Storm”, 15.5″ x 19.5″, etching ink on paper, $975 Lava Road, 36″ x 51″, oil on steel, $6400 “Weeping Sky”, oil on aluminum, 51″ x 39″, Sold Georgiana, 10″ x 12″, oil on canvas, $400 Painting by Eric Schmidt Chasing Waterfalls, detail 3, oil on brushed aluminum, 51” x 39” Trent Call’s Server “Half Moon Bay”, 24″ x 24″,oil on linen, $1700 Eya- og Miklaholtshreppur, Western Iceland Winter Beach #1, Oil on canvas, 14″ x 18″, $900 “Off Trail PC”R, 13″ x 16”, oil on canvas, $600 “Channeling Blue over Grey””, oil on brushed aluminum, 19″ x 15″, SOLD “Shady Stars”, 21″ x 21″, acrylic spray paint on steel, Sold LA Sky, 27″ x 27″, oil paint on a brushed aluminum panel, $2500 “Red Sky at Night”, 24″ x 24″, oil on linen, $1700 Lauren’s Rose, 38″ x 46″ “Red Sky at Night”, 24″ x 24″, oil on metal Mountain Triptych, panel 2 of 3, 24″ x 48″, Oil on aluminum, $7000 “Silver Snow”, 39″ x 51″, Oil on steel, Sold “First Snow”, 40″ x 40″, Oil on steel, $5600 “Vertigo 2”, 30 x 60, metalic acrylic, mixed medium on canvas, $6300 Carmen, acrylic on steel, 39″ x 51″,$7250 Lava Road, 36″ x 51″ Oil on steel, $5500 “Devil’s Den”, 30″ x 34″, oil on natural linen, $3000 Lava Road, 36″ x 51″ Oil on steel, $5500 Cynthia at PCR!
