He was “Solus” a street artist from Dublin Ireland who was in town to work with “The Bushwick Collective” on the murals in Brooklyn. This was a few years ago, before it became super popular. He was telling me about the murals he had planned for some walls in Manhattan and that he was invited to participate in “Art Basel” in Miami. At this point I thought he was telling some tall tales so when I got on the train I googled him. It was all true. I investigated the Bushwick Collective and my love of Street Art was born. Interpreting flowers in spray paint brings a modern edge to a traditional subject. The veils of color create softness and new colors, blending the edges and building a rich hue on the flat surface of the silver steel. In this piece, I experimented with masking, using cut out curves and edges to shield the panel while layering colors on top. “Metamorphosis”, acrylic spray paint on steel, 39″ x 51″, $6000 “Red Sky at Night”, 24″ x 24″, oil on metal Accobonac Harbor, 18″ x 24″, oil on line, $1300 “Switchbacks” , oil on brushed aluminum, 40″ x 40″, $5600 Train to Seville, 18 x 24, oil on linen Sherwood Salt Marsh, 23″ x 29″, Oil on canvas, $1900, Mindfulness Moth Eaten Bachelor Buttons “Blue Horizon”, oil on aluminum, 19″ x 15″ $975 Late Afternoon “Silvery Moon” Triptych, 48″ x 100″ appx, oil on aluminum, Sold Summer’s Twilight, oil on brushed aluminum, 19″ x19″, $1250 View From Partrick Bridge, 24″ x 36″ Sold Big Red, acrylic on steel, 39″ x 51″, $7250 Going Up The Sound of Twilight, (Diptych panel), oil on aluminum, 19 x 51,(each panel), (46″ x 51′ side by side), Sold “Fairy Flower”, 36″ x 48″, acrylic on canvas, $7300 “Grey Sky at the Beach”, 8″ x 8″, oil on wood panel, $200 “Sunrise on the Wasatch Mountains” 19″ x 34″ Sunlit Poppy Shadow Woman – Patriot, oil on aluminum, 27″ x 27″, $2250 Georgiana, 10″ x 12″, oil on canvas, $400 “Midnight Ride”, oil on brushed aluminum, 51″ x 39″, $6900 Grundarfjarðarbær, Western Iceland, Iceland Trent Call’s Film Maker I really love the abstract quality of the shadow on the wall in this one.
