It was mid-afternoon, no one was there, and I wasn’t sure I was in the right place to go into Manhattan. A man approached and we started talking. He was “Solus” a street artist from Dublin Ireland who was in town to work with “The Bushwick Collective” on the murals in Brooklyn. This was a few years ago, before it became super popular. He was telling me about the murals he had planned for some walls in Manhattan and that he was invited to participate in “Art Basel” in Miami. At this point I thought he was telling some tall tales so when I got on the train I googled him. It was all true. I investigated the Bushwick Collective and my love of Street Art was born. Interpreting flowers in spray paint brings a modern edge to a traditional subject. The veils of color create softness and new colors, blending the edges and building a rich hue on the flat surface of the silver steel. In this piece, I experimented with masking, using cut out curves and edges to shield the panel while layering colors on top. “Spiraling Flora” in a Deer Valley home. “Midnight Ride”, oil on brushed aluminum, 51″ x 39″, $6900 Snowbird Melting, oil on brushed aluminum panel, 51 x 51, $8750 “View from Partrick Bridge 2″, Oil on steel, 29″ x 42”. $3700 Aspen Eyes Twilight 48th Street, oil on canvas, 18″ x 24″, $1300 Fairfield Beach, 24″x 36″, oil on steel, sold Big Red, acrylic on steel, 39″ x 51″, $7250 “Going Home”, 13″ x 15″, oil on canvas, $725 Earth Day Clean Up, before… Carmen, acrylic on steel, 39″ x 51″,$7250 Surreal Wave, oil on brushed aluminum, 19″ x 15″, $975 Georgiana, 10″ x 12″, oil on canvas, $400 “Delphinium”, acrylic spray paint on steel, 51″x 39″, $7250 Winter Beach #1, Oil on canvas, 14″ x 18″, $900 Autumn Wind by Hung Liu, Crystal Bridges “Matrix”, oil on brushed aluminum, 19″ x 15″, SOLD Helgafellssveit, Western Iceland, Iceland Base painting for a cityscape idea. “Half Moon Bay”, 24″ x 24″,oil on linen, $1700 Serenity “Wildflower Meadow”, 24″ x 36″, oil on steel, $500 framed Floating Flora Trent Call’s Road Biker Carmen, acrylic on steel, 39″ x 51″,$7250 Back Porch View, Tannery Road, oil on canvas, 18″ x 20″, $1100 Sherwood Island, Winter Beach, oil on canvas, 18″ x 18″,$1100 “Whispers”, oil on aluminum, 39″ x 51″, $6900 Cliffs of Carmel, oil on linen, 20″ x 20″, $1200 “Into the Storm”, 39″ x 51″, oil on steel, Sold Red Truck, (in progress), 27 x 33, oil on brushed aluminum, $3100 Awakening, oil on brushed aluminum, 27″ x 27″, SOLD Image Info Dimensions 2,560 × 2,088 Name devils-den-by-cynthia-mcloughlin_25-x-29_oil-on-linen_950-scaled-1.jpeg Mime Type image/jpeg Type JPEG Size 385.41 KB
