It was mid-afternoon, no one was there, and I wasn’t sure I was in the right place to go into Manhattan. A man approached and we started talking. He was “Solus” a street artist from Dublin Ireland who was in town to work with “The Bushwick Collective” on the murals in Brooklyn. This was a few years ago, before it became super popular. He was telling me about the murals he had planned for some walls in Manhattan and that he was invited to participate in “Art Basel” in Miami. At this point I thought he was telling some tall tales so when I got on the train I googled him. It was all true. I investigated the Bushwick Collective and my love of Street Art was born. Interpreting flowers in spray paint brings a modern edge to a traditional subject. The veils of color create softness and new colors, blending the edges and building a rich hue on the flat surface of the silver steel. In this piece, I experimented with masking, using cut out curves and edges to shield the panel while layering colors on top. “Sky Scrapers”, oil on brushed aluminum, 19″ x 15″, $975 A Giant’s View, 24″ x 36″ Kings Highway North, Oil on steel, 40″ x 30″, $3600 Solar Reveal, 42″ x 54″ oil on steel, Sold Mountain Triptych, panel 3 of 3, 24″ x 48″, Oil on aluminum “Channeling Blue over Grey””, oil on brushed aluminum, 19″ x 15″, SOLD Carmel Trees, oil on brushed aluminum panel, 27″ x 27″, $2500 Contrasts, 12″ x 12″ Sold Firestorm, oil on brushed aluminum panel, 71” x 52”, $13,500 Painting by Eric Schmidt Whitecaps, oil on brushed aluminum 19″ x 15″, $975 Snowbird Melting, oil on brushed aluminum panel, 51 x 51, $8750 “Tuileries”, oil on linen, 24″ x 24″ $1700 “Spotlights” in The ArtBox Gallery, Zurich, Switzerland “Calm Before the Storm”, oil on aluminum, 17″ x 19″, $1000 Wasatch Back, oil on brushed aluminum, 27″ x 51″, Sold Moon over the NJ Shore #1 Lauren’s Rose, 38″ x 48″,Acrylic on recycled, distressed board, $6400, Georgiana, oil on canvas, 10″ x 12″, $425 Vortex Just Foliage Silver Falls, 40″ x 40″, Oil on steel, Sold “Grounded”, oil on brushed aluminum, 19″ x 15″, SOLD Twilight 48th Street, oil on canvas, 18″ x 24″, $1300 January Eye Carmen, acrylic on steel, 39″ x 51″,$7250 Carmen, acrylic on steel, 39″ x 51″,$7250 Georgiana, oil on canvas, 10″ x 12″, $425 “Butterfly Wings”, oil on brushed aluminum, 27″ x 27″, $2500 Cynthia & Tom 2019 Ablaze, oil on brushed aluminum, 27 x 51, Sold “Pony Marsh”, 12″ x 12″, oil on canvas, Sold “Spotlights” in The ArtBox Gallery, Zurich, Switzerland Off Trail in Park City, Oil on canvas, 13″ x 16″ , $700 “Off Trail PC”R, 13″ x 16”, oil on canvas, $600 Lauren’s Rose, 38″ x 46″ Outside entrance to the Eduardo Lira Art Gallery for the Miami 2.0 Artbox Show 2019!
