It was mid-afternoon, no one was there, and I wasn’t sure I was in the right place to go into Manhattan. A man approached and we started talking. He was “Solus” a street artist from Dublin Ireland who was in town to work with “The Bushwick Collective” on the murals in Brooklyn. This was a few years ago, before it became super popular. At this point I thought he was telling some tall tales so when I got on the train I googled him. It was all true. I investigated the Bushwick Collective and my love of Street Art was born. He was telling me about the murals he had planned for some walls in Manhattan and that he was invited to participate in “Art Basel” in Miami. At this point I thought he was telling some tall tales so when I got on the train I googled him. It was all true. I investigated the Bushwick Collective and my love of Street Art was born. Interpreting flowers in spray paint brings a modern edge to a traditional subject. The veils of color create softness and new colors, blending the edges and building a rich hue on the flat surface of the silver steel. In this piece, I experimented with masking, using cut out curves and edges to shield the panel while layering colors on top. “Metamorphosis”, acrylic spray paint on steel, 39″ x 51″, $6000 Sand Island 18′ x 24″, oil on linen, $1300 Spring Thaw, oil on a brushed aluminum panel, 39″ x 39″, $5300 Silver Horizon, oil on aluminum,15″ x 19″, Sold Cliffs of Carmel, oil on linen, 20″ x 20″, $1200 Aspen Eyes “Slide”, 23″ x 23″ oil on aluminum, Sold Downstream, Hope Creek, oil on canvas, 21″ x 21″, $1350 Vines above “Acid Test”, oil on brushed aluminum, 15″ x 15″, $800 “Grey Sky at the Beach”, 8″ x 8″, oil on wood panel, $200 “Delphinium”, acrylic spray paint on steel, 51″x 39″, $7250 Moonlight on the Sound, oil on steel, 35 x 38, $2900 Work in progress Road to Milford Sound, New Zealand Winter Beach #1, Oil on canvas, 14″ x 18″, $900 Wasatch Fog, oil on white aluminum, 23″ x 23″, $1700 Grandeur, oil on a brushed aluminum panel, 39″ x 51″, Sold Center section. “Ridgelines”, 40″ x 52″, oil paint on an aluminum panel, $6900 “Sherwood Inverted”, 25″ x 37″, oil on steel.
