It was mid-afternoon, no one was there, and I wasn’t sure I was in the right place to go into Manhattan. A man approached and we started talking. He was “Solus” a street artist from Dublin Ireland who was in town to work with “The Bushwick Collective” on the murals in Brooklyn. This was a few years ago, before it became super popular. He was telling me about the murals he had planned for some walls in Manhattan and that he was invited to participate in “Art Basel” in Miami. At this point I thought he was telling some tall tales so when I got on the train I googled him. It was all true. I investigated the Bushwick Collective and my love of Street Art was born. Interpreting flowers in spray paint brings a modern edge to a traditional subject. The veils of color create softness and new colors, blending the edges and building a rich hue on the flat surface of the silver steel. In this piece, I experimented with masking, using cut out curves and edges to shield the panel while layering colors on top. “First Snow”, 40″x 40″, oil on aluminum, $5600 Delphinium, acrylic on steel, 51″ x 39″, $7250 Train to Seville, framed, Oil on canvas, 12″ x 14″ $550 Summer Storm, 24″ x 36″ unframed, Oil on canvas, Sold “View from Partrick Bridge 2″, Oil on steel, 29″ x 42”. $3700 View From The Shed, 20″ x 24″ + frame, Sold “Silver Meadow”, 24″ x 36″, oil on steel, $2600 Spokes The Road Less Traveled, oil on canvas 36″ x 72″, $7800 Summer’s Twilight, oil on brushed aluminum, 19″ x19″, $1250 “Vertigo 2”, 30 x 60, metalic acrylic, mixed medium on canvas, $6300 “Silver Lake”, 39″ x 27″, Oil on steel, $3700 “Calm Before the Storm”, oil on aluminum, 17″ x 19″, $1000 “Where There is Smoke, There is Fire” 16″ x 18″, oil on aluminum, $975. The punctuation marks were my favorites. Tannery Row, 8″ x 8″ unframed, oil on canvas, $225, Utah I became obsessed with Street Art on the platform of the LIRR. “Vertigo”, 24″ x 36″, oil on steel, Sold Tannery Row, 8″ x 8″ unframed, oil on canvas, $225, Utah Twilight 48th Street, oil on canvas, 18″ x 24″, $1300 “Sky Scrapers”, oil on brushed aluminum, 19″ x 15″, $975 Aramis, oil paint on a brushed aluminum panel, 15″ x 15″, $800 “Heber Barn”, 14″ x 14″, oil on canvas, $600 “Blue Horizon”, oil on aluminum, 19″ x 15″ $975 Spokes Trent Call’s Server “Indigo Rain”, oil on brushed aluminum, 15″ x 19″, Sold Eya- og Miklaholtshreppur, Western Iceland Frost, oil on brushed aluminum panel, 19″ x 15″ Train to Seville, framed, Oil on canvas, 12″ x 14″ $550 Soft Pink, 36″ x 48″ Lava Road, 36″ x 51″ Oil on steel, $6400 Moth Flowers “Delphinium”, acrylic spray paint on steel, 51″x 39″, $7250 “Beaver Creek Trail”, 21″ x 22″, oil on steel, $1400 Sunlit Poppy Moon over the NJ Shore #3 “Red Sky at Night”, 24″ x 24″, oil on metal Dart River, New Zealand “Sherwood Inverted”, 24″ x 36″, oil on steel, $2400 framed Icy Twilight, Oil paint on brushed aluminum, 16″ x 16″,$975 Big Red, acrylic on steel, 39″ x 51″, $7250 Smith Barn, Oil on canvas, 11″ x 14″, $550 “Silver Falls”, 40″x 40″, Oil on steel, Sold Mountain Triptych, panel 1 of 3, 24″ x 48″, Oil on aluminum Utah Skies, 15″ x 30″ oil on canvas, $1400 Road to Milford Sound, New Zealand “Tuileries”, oil on linen, 24″ x 24″ $1700 Promontory Home Installation, Park City, Utah! “Tropical Red”, 21″x 21″ acrylic spray paint on steel, Sold “Devil’s Den”, 30″ x 34″, oil on natural linen, $3000 “Acid Test”, oil on brushed aluminum, 15″ x 15″, $800 “Spotlights” in The ArtBox Gallery, Zurich, Switzerland Sundance in Summer, oil on linen, 32″ x 26″, $2900 Mountain Triptych in a Park City Home (Promontory).
