It was mid-afternoon, no one was there, and I wasn’t sure I was in the right place to go into Manhattan. A man approached and we started talking. He was “Solus” a street artist from Dublin Ireland who was in town to work with “The Bushwick Collective” on the murals in Brooklyn. This was a few years ago, before it became super popular. He was telling me about the murals he had planned for some walls in Manhattan and that he was invited to participate in “Art Basel” in Miami. At this point I thought he was telling some tall tales so when I got on the train I googled him. It was all true. I investigated the Bushwick Collective and my love of Street Art was born. Interpreting flowers in spray paint brings a modern edge to a traditional subject. The veils of color create softness and new colors, blending the edges and building a rich hue on the flat surface of the silver steel. In this piece, I experimented with masking, using cut out curves and edges to shield the panel while layering colors on top. “Switchbacks” , oil on brushed aluminum, 40″ x 40″, $5600 “Weeping Sky”, oil on aluminum, 51″ x 39″, Sold Sherwood Salt Marsh, 23″ x 29″, Oil on canvas, $1900, Utah Skies, 15″ x 30″ oil on canvas, $1400 “Blue Horizon”, oil on aluminum, 19″ x 15″ $975 “Moonlight Reflections”, oil on brushed aluminum, 27″ x 27″, SOLD Earth Day Clean Up, before… “Sherwood Inverted”, 24″ x 36″, oil on steel, $2400 framed Big Red, $7250, Tidal Pools, $2750 in a NYC apartment. “Full Tilt-Vertical”, Oil on brushed aluminum panel, 51″ x 39″, SOLD “Beaver Creek Trail”, 21″ x 22″, oil on steel, $1400 “Silver Lake”, 39″ x 27″, Oil on steel, $3700 Clair McCardell, American, 1929-38, 1940-58 “Silver Lining”, 41″ X 41″, oil on steel, Sold Overton’s, 24″ x 36″, Oil on aluminum Off Trail in Park City, Oil on canvas, 13″ x 16″ , $700 Sherwood Salt Marsh, 23″ x 29″, Oil on canvas, $1900, Wasatch Fog, oil on white aluminum, 23″ x 23″, $1700 Center section.
