It was mid-afternoon, no one was there, and I wasn’t sure I was in the right place to go into Manhattan. A man approached and we started talking. He was “Solus” a street artist from Dublin Ireland who was in town to work with “The Bushwick Collective” on the murals in Brooklyn. This was a few years ago, before it became super popular. He was telling me about the murals he had planned for some walls in Manhattan and that he was invited to participate in “Art Basel” in Miami. At this point I thought he was telling some tall tales so when I got on the train I googled him. It was all true. I investigated the Bushwick Collective and my love of Street Art was born. Interpreting flowers in spray paint brings a modern edge to a traditional subject. The veils of color create softness and new colors, blending the edges and building a rich hue on the flat surface of the silver steel. In this piece, I experimented with masking, using cut out curves and edges to shield the panel while layering colors on top. “Vertigo 2”, 30 x 60, metalic acrylic, mixed medium on canvas, $6300 “Carmen”, 40″ x 52″, acrylic spray paint on steel, $7250 “Channeling Blue over Grey””, oil on brushed aluminum, 19″ x 15″, SOLD Creeping Arachnids “Vertigo 2”, 30 x 60, metalic acrylic, mixed medium on canvas, $6300 Smith Barn, Oil on canvas, 11″ x 14″, $550 “Connor’s Ride”, 12 x 12, oil on linen, $600 Morning Ride in Wilton, oil on linen, 24″ x 30″, $2200 Soft Pink, 36″ x 48″ Train to Seville, framed, Oil on canvas, 12″ x 14″ $550 Road to Milford Sound, New Zealand Vortex Arts and Crafts Flora Celestial Rhapsody, oil on a brushed aluminum panel, 99″ x 51″, Sold “Midnight Ride”, oil on brushed aluminum, 51″ x 39″, $6900 Kaleidoscope, oil on aluminum panel, 39″ x 39″, $5300 The Kemper, Kansas City, MO Train to Seville, 18 x 24, oil on linen “Matrix”, oil on brushed aluminum, 19″ x 15″, SOLD Dreamscape, oil paint on a brushed aluminum panel, 27″ x 27″, Sold “Indigo Rain”, oil on brushed aluminum, 15″ x 19″, Sold “Silver Lake” A work in progress in Cynthia’s studio. “First Snow”, 40″ x 40″, Oil on steel, $5600 “Midnight Ride”, oil on brushed aluminum, 39″ x 51″, $6900 View From The Shed, 20″ x 24″ + frame, Sold Winter Beach #1, Oil on canvas, 14″ x 18″, $900 Trent Call’s Pussy Cat Tannery Row, 8″ x 8″ unframed, oil on canvas, $225, Utah Break in the Storm, oil on brushed aluminum panel, 27″ x 27″ “Going Home”, 13″ x 15″, oil on canvas, $725 Mindfulness Earth Day clean up, after!
