It was mid-afternoon, no one was there, and I wasn’t sure I was in the right place to go into Manhattan. A man approached and we started talking. He was “Solus” a street artist from Dublin Ireland who was in town to work with “The Bushwick Collective” on the murals in Brooklyn. This was a few years ago, before it became super popular. He was telling me about the murals he had planned for some walls in Manhattan and that he was invited to participate in “Art Basel” in Miami. At this point I thought he was telling some tall tales so when I got on the train I googled him. It was all true. I investigated the Bushwick Collective and my love of Street Art was born. Interpreting flowers in spray paint brings a modern edge to a traditional subject. The veils of color create softness and new colors, blending the edges and building a rich hue on the flat surface of the silver steel. In this piece, I experimented with masking, using cut out curves and edges to shield the panel while layering colors on top. “Full Tilt-Vertical”, Oil on brushed aluminum panel, 51″ x 39″, SOLD “Slide”, 23″ x 23″ oil on aluminum, Sold “Tidal Pool”, 24″x24″, oil on linen, $1700 “Beaver Creek Trail”, 21″ x 22″, oil on steel, $1400 “Electrical Storm”, 19″ x 38″, oil on aluminum, $2200 Shine On, 19″ x 38″, oil paint on a brushed aluminum panel, $2200 Hope, by Robert Indiana in New York City. “Matrix”, oil on brushed aluminum, 19″ x 15″, SOLD “Big Red”, 40″ x 52″, acrylic spray paint on steel, $7250 “Metamorphosis”, acrylic spray paint on steel, 39″ x 51″, $6000 Smith Barn, Oil on canvas, 11″ x 14″, $550 “View from Partrick Bridge 2″, Oil on steel, 29″ x 42”. $3700 Carmel Trees, oil on brushed aluminum panel, 27″ x 27″, $2500 Snakes and Snails Salt Lake City, 19″ x 34″, oil on linen $1900 California Sunshine Utah Skies, 15″ x 30″ oil on canvas, $1400 Kaleidoscope, oil on aluminum panel, 39″ x 39″, $5300 Trent Call’s Tweety Bird with Mining Carts Lava Road, 36″ x 51″ Oil on steel, $5500 Tannery Row, 8″ x 8″ unframed, oil on canvas, $225, Utah “Fairy Flower”, 36″ x 48″, acrylic on canvas, $7300 Avalanche, oil on brushed aluminum panel, 19″ x 15″, $975 “Sherwood Inverted”, 25″ x 37″, oil on steel. “Going Home”, 13″ x 15″, oil on canvas, $725 “Grey Sky at the Beach”, 8″ x 8″, oil on wood panel, $200 Underpass, Into the Light, oil on brushed aluminum. 39″ x 39″, $5300 On the Way Home, oil paint on a brushed aluminum panel, 27″ x 27″, SOLD Icy View from Saugatuck Bridge “Connor’s Ride” 14″ x 14″, oil on linen, $600 “Sherwood Inverted”, 25″ x 37″, oil on steel, $3300 “Off Trail PC”R, 13″ x 16”, oil on canvas, $600 “Aqua Shots”, 21″x 21″, acrylic spray paint on steel, Sold Earth Day clean up, after! “Metamorphosis” $7000, in a Park City boudoir.
