It was mid-afternoon, no one was there, and I wasn’t sure I was in the right place to go into Manhattan. A man approached and we started talking. He was “Solus” a street artist from Dublin Ireland who was in town to work with “The Bushwick Collective” on the murals in Brooklyn. This was a few years ago, before it became super popular. He was telling me about the murals he had planned for some walls in Manhattan and that he was invited to participate in “Art Basel” in Miami. At this point I thought he was telling some tall tales so when I got on the train I googled him. It was all true. I investigated the Bushwick Collective and my love of Street Art was born. Interpreting flowers in spray paint brings a modern edge to a traditional subject. The veils of color create softness and new colors, blending the edges and building a rich hue on the flat surface of the silver steel. In this piece, I experimented with masking, using cut out curves and edges to shield the panel while layering colors on top. “Metamorphosis”, acrylic spray paint on steel, 39″ x 51″, $6000 Silver Horizon, oil on aluminum,15″ x 19″, Sold Dreamscape, oil paint on a brushed aluminum panel, 27″ x 27″, Sold Cheshire Flora “Spiraling Flora” in a Deer Valley home. “Electrical Storm”, 19″ x 38″, oil on aluminum, $2200 Neon Rose, 36″ x 48″ unframed, Acrylic on steel, $350, California Icy Twilight, Oil paint on brushed aluminum, 16″ x 16″,$975 LA Sky, 27″ x 27″, oil paint on a brushed aluminum panel, $2500 Lava Road, 36″ x 51″ Oil on steel, $6400 Delphinium, acrylic on steel, 51″ x 39″, $7250 September, 39 x 51, oil on brushed aluminum panel, $6900 “Delphinium”, acrylic spray paint on steel, 51″x 39″, $7250 “Big Red”, 39″ x 51″, acrylic spray paint on steel, $7250 Morning Ride in Wilton, oil on linen, 24″ x 30″, $2200 “Silver Meadow”, 24″ x 36″, oil on steel, $2600 On the Way Home, oil paint on a brushed aluminum panel, 27″ x 27″, SOLD Desert Highway, oil on brushed aluminum, 27″ x 51″, Sold Icy View from Saugatuck Bridge Sherwood Island, Winter Beach, oil on canvas, 18″ x 18″,$1100 Eya- og Miklaholtshreppur, Western Iceland “Calm Before the Storm”, oil on aluminum, 17″ x 19″, $1000 Arts and Crafts Flora “Heber Barn”, 14″ x 14″, oil on canvas, $600 “Blue Horizon”, oil on aluminum, 19″ x 15″ $975 View From Partrick Bridge, 24″ x 36″ Sold Promontory Home Installation, Park City, Utah! “Blue Horizon”, oil on aluminum, 19″ x 15″ $975 Carmel Trees, oil on brushed aluminum panel, 27″ x 27″, $2500 Sean Kelly Gallery, NYC Marie Cutoli -French “Summer Storm”, 15.5″ x 19.5″, etching ink on paper, $975 Overton’s, 24″ x 36″, Oil on aluminum Picotage, The Kemper, Kansas City, MO.
